Velkas Rapier Build

So I've been messing around for awhile with a VR build, and have come up with this. I feel that health, stamina, poise, resistances, defense, spells, and damage are all in good balance, and will interchange the currently equipped Hornets Ring to any other ring, with the exception of the FaP and Havels rings. 

I tend to play a counter-attacking style, so the use of the rapier and specific spells should work, while using the bow to annoy and deal damage should also work.

Any advice is welcome.

If you can squeeze the one poist of Str you'd need out of something (you have options there) the Comp bow has much more AR than the short bow.

If that isn't a huge concern then other things to consider are

Crown of Dusk: Makes spells hurt a ton. Ever since the patch family masks have been taking a backseat to other options are they've all become so weak.

Attunement: Only 2 spell slots is almost unimaginably low for 44 int, though I suppose depending on how much you plan on casting it could be a moot point, but options aren't always bad, in fact most are good.

Armor: If you wanted to free up/move around points the simplest way would be to lower your End and use a lighter set up for getting to the 53 poise break poist. The absolute lightest being Hallow Soldier Waistcloth and Knight Gauntlets (assuming wolf's stays on) While the single lightest piece that will get you 13 poise is the catarina gauntlets. There are countless possible armor set ups to keep you defenses reasonable while keeping you breakpoint, and a few are lighter than what you have.

Overall though most any change I'd make can be attributed to personal preference and it's a solid build, you'll be hard pressed to find many(if any) improvements you yourself approve of

Most of what you said comes down to my personal preference. I hate the look of Hollow/Knights, so I dont use it. I know it opens up End that I can then put into Vitality/Int, but I just cant stand it.

I dont really like the crown that much, since it takes away a decent amount from magic defense. I wont use spells a lot, basically to counter an opponents mistake (think healing), so having more attunment slots isnt necessary for me.
 
I use the MoM to just about break 1500 health. I personally view that as good enough, and since I'm not using FaP, it offsets a lack of health.. This also ties into why I dont like the Crown. 

If I use the Crown, then health drops almost 140, and Magic defense drops almost 100.

I can always swap out the Hornets ring for Bellowing Dragoncrest, and then have increased spell damage comparable to using the crown.

Just awesome. I like making builds as much as playing them and it's awesome you could fit the "quality" faith/int build into SL100 and keep the roleplay aspect.

I'm not gonna stray too far from what I already have, since a lot of it just comes down to my personal choices, and I'm trying to stay close to SL 100.

thx, sadly i'm not really into casting anymore so this guy hasn't had the playtime he deserves.

@goober: http://mmdks.com/3c7g just switched some minor things around to fit my taste. your build is rocksolid tbh, i just think that hornets is overkill ^^.

Yes I understand the Hornets is a bit much, but I'm planning on just switching that ring out from time to time to something else (DWGR, Bellowing etc). I've also been trying to parry a lot, so Hornets makes it worth it.

I use the FaP ring too much so I wasnt really trying to use it for this build, even though it will give me a significant health boost and more flexibility with armor and whatnot.

I'm gonna have a fun time trying different ring combinations.
