Suggestions for my new build (STR/INT/FTH)

Post by divinebeanpole on Thu Jul 25, 2013 12:02 pm

Hay y'all, haven't posted in a while, need urs guys'es input. The 13 DEX is because I hotswap to the Gravelord Sword(the weapon I use before I get to 40STR) if I need a shield or something instead of just blasting GC lol

This is an unusual build for me, but I'm pretty set on the rings and magics
I basically just want some suggestions for armor or weapons

Fine concept except there being literally no point in having int w/ only 25 and cmw as your only int spell.
SLB would be so much better and those points would be better invested into vit/end/more faith, I really like the concept of faith/int hybrids, but in this case there's no point.

There is a point for the CMW actually, sort of. I like spending my time in the forest now as opposed to straight up dueling or invading, so I like having 3 buffs, and then I can hotswap the catalyst for a shield or dark hand after I buff. Im not really too keen on sorcery spells as they are harder to connect, I like to hold my talisman in my right hand, and i like adding the magic damage to devestate those elf-ear mages

I kind of want to suggest using the silver knight straight sword so you have more points to put into faith, to make your tin darkmoon cat stronger, and your miracles in general better.

Reason being the skss has pretty solid attack @ base dex to wield because of it's high base and only moderate scaling(22 dex, w/ I think 326ish physical) this should give you a more solid buff or possibly more tankiness if you wanna go that route. Either way using the skss would give you 15 extra points if I did my math right.

more poise, you'll meet other greatswords and have to trade running attacks, be able to withstand that stun; buff is minimaly weaker; one att less; but vit is on an acceptable level now

I might try something like this: https://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=274607102363082772

-It gives 42 poise instead of 46, and replaces the Oolacile with the Darkmoon catalyst.

-I think force would treat you very well.  Point Forward WoG, BF/GC, the MSGS, and even HCSM have great poise damage potential, and force can assist with stagger set ups.  Since you dont have a shield, it could also serve as great tool to set up your roll backstabs and what not for magic spammers.

-Cycling attuenments is always the biggest challenge when you have 5 or more castings to choose from imo. 3 is easy with practice, 4 takes practice, and 5 takes a lot of practice imo.  My attunement builds have 3-4 castings and I just duplicate them through NGs in order to minimize cycling.  When I have 12 Dark Beads, then they are my "bow",  when I have 9 WoGs, they are my "360 degree Claymore"...if you catch my drift.

The reason I feel this poses such a big problem is when facing experienced players.  Spamming a WoG or combustion will not work with them.  You MUST, again imo, combo them.  You must throw off their timing.  HCSM is a great way to force that mentality on them.  I've casted WoG and/or Black Flame  for instance knowing I'm out of range, but also knowing they will press afterwards and I already have a different casting ready.

The way I look at it, if I have 3 wogs, 8 BF/GCs, 10 HCSMs, etc, and I land 30% of those castings, I'll more than likely have taken close to 50% of their health regardless of my "casting adjustments" compared to their defenses at  soul levels 100-130.

I also think Mage  are the most fun to play. Joy

Lastly, love the concept.  Good luck bud.

    xenon's version aint bad either...but I wear shoes.Shrug tongue
