Kebobs are generally placed in the finger foods category which are generally at the more casual part of the meal or a more relaxed event. As such, you're allowed to be more creative with kebob skewers. Back in the old days I saw a host once use a baby nail as a kebob skewer. From a decorative standpoint A+. From a "giving your guests the plague" standpoint, total faux pas

That makes sense, but see, I've been using the "salad fork" for dancing.....is that wrong?

I don't play with my food, just the utensils. Shrug

Well in the real world dancing isn't appropriate. But since the old fashioned method of burping to show your compliments is not included in this particular game, dancing is a good substitute.

Just don't use the estus flask for either. It's considered bad form. Like putting a daiquiri in a brandy snifter.

My rules of engagement are simple:

    • DW/DM invading questers - don't expect them to fight fair. Fight how you want to be fought.
    • DW/DM vs hosts and their phantoms - Kill them (simple enough?)
    • Forest - read above
    • Organized duels - everyone sets the rules and follows them.

And, don't expect others to follow your rules and don't judge them for it.

Bottom line: fight how you would like to be fought

Actually certain places have rules at times, for instance the burg.  Sl120 invasions were generally for dueling.  Same for the Kiln.  An issue becomes that it is widely accepted as a dueling area, then either trolling invaders or gankers set up in such areas, so people end up needing to find new dueling spots. Many do not like to drop their sign, since gankers can then just stand around the summon point while otherwise you can invade from a possible alternative position and not get jumped right away.  Dragon Eyes also are not reliable, since as soon as a person gets invaded your sign vanishes to them.  It's an issue with the meta constantly changing in regards to what area people duel at.  Currently Moonpit is where it is at, but over time gankers and more trolls have been going there so it will probably change. That's just how the meta for Dark Souls works.

    @Kid

No offense, but what the bloody he|| does this video have in common with the current conversation, the context of the op's implied question/statement, or the overall premise of how someone is supposed to "act" in Dark Souls pvp????

I have zero idea why this video was posted here and it seems like a shameless attempt at self promotion.

Also, your commentary has nothing at all to do with anything...especially the "starting DkS2 at midway" comment.

Lastly, uh....well....you have a soothing voice. winking  You could be interesting to listen to if your commentary wasn't so "all over the place" so to speak. You just need a little confidence and a script.

Anyway the moral of the story is: Just make your own thread or something dude. Point Forward

You are completely correct and I apologised to you and the rest of this thread I was looking for feedback on the video in a way and you gave me some so I am grateful now on to what you said thank you for the compliment and I agree I need more confidence and I wrote a list of topics I wanted to cover in the video and went off that..

Now if you could help me by telling me what I can improve that would be much appreciated and feel free to subscribe!

Now for the sake of the thread I assume I should put my opinion on etiquette

As a darkwraith/forest hunter/ Dmb your main goal is to kill the enemy in anyway possible to complete your leaders goal weither it be protecting your grounds, punishing sinners, or just killing fir power so do so the only things that might stop someone is the communitys ethical viewpoints

    Wow man. surprised

You want advice? Do that dude.  Here I am just trying to be funny (or whatever) and you're all respectful, eloquently well spoken, and articulate aand stuff.

Do that dude...BUT WRITE IT DOWN.  Literature is artistry imo.  No matter what you do graphically, you are authoring your vid.  Some people have a knack for saying much in few words.  Based on the commentary I heard, I'd say just  write it down, practice a little, and you'll be just fine bro.

You're one of very few people I've listened to for more than 5 seconds when rambling.  I think you could easily keep it humble, keep it light, and be alright. cool

Invading is entirely situational. Most times I kill the host and any phantoms by any means necessary, but other times (mainly when the host is by himself) I'll allow him to kill any nearby enemies and heal up before I engage. If the host is AFK I hit him with some dung pie to give him the chance to come back before he croaks. But all in all, you should never expect people to play like you do, just enjoy the game for what it is, and try to buff up your skills so you can take on those ganks. Seriously, dedicating myself to the forest and fight clubs for a few days was the best thing I could've done for my skill.

    @Animaaal

Thabks and ill try being more like this in my videos but i find writing like this and actually verbaliding it are two completely different things

As for a script i feel it would ve to generic as i would want the ideas to roll off my head as i go along but then again thats most likely just the mindset ive acquired from doing live commentaries ill definetly keep that advice in consideration (truthfully)

    Thank you for your help

One more thing before i go i thought the orginal post you made was a serious thats why i awnsered it the way i did.

I don't think anybody should be forced to adhere to any form of rules unless they are agreeing to a duel or fightclub.

If I'm random hosting in the burg I can backstab you as much as I please.

In a fightclub with no backstabbing then it becomes an issue.

I agree with you, up to a point. If I invade a well-known area for duelling (not ganking), then I won't treat it as an invasion of questers (or gankers), and I'll follow more formal etiquette (bow, grass, buff), let them prepare, let them regrass, and not heal.

Also, the part about Lastly, you earn respect. Not cry for it.
So if I bow to an opponent and he bs's me, to me that's disrespectful. You have to SHOW respect in order to get or receive it.

    Respect is subjective.

I show respect by being absolutely merciless at all times. I respect my opponent/the threat my opponent represents, and so I take whatever actions I believe will tip the odds in my favor.

As soon as I stop doing things like this (ie stop attacking as you buff, stuff like that) I'm being intentionally disrespectful. By allowing you to buff, if I have a say in the matter (ie fight club rules, buffing around a corner, things I can't stop,) I'm putting myself above you. Telling you that I do not consider you a threat, and consider the fight a waste of my time.

@Forum Pirate: You're right that respect is subjective and I think that your logic is undeniable, so perhaps it might be better to use the other word that is often considered synonymous: honor. If we look at history, I doubt that there's as much leeway regarding its interpretation.

    hon·or
    [on-er]

    noun
    1.
honesty, fairness, or integrity in one's beliefs and actions: a man of honor.

    2.
a source of credit or distinction: to be an honor to one's family.

    3.
high respect, as for worth, merit, or rank: to be held in honor.

    4.
such respect manifested: a memorial in honor of the dead.

    5.
high public esteem; fame; glory: He has earned his position of honor.

Also subjective. When most people say honor, they have a preconcieved notion of what that means, but really it can mean many things.

I can say all the same things I just said and replace respect with honor in each instance, and it would still be true of me, using definition 1, because integrity is defined as

    Integrity

    in·teg·ri·ty
    noun

1: firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility

Morals are also subjective, so as long as I adhere to my own morals, I am a man of integrity, and thus a man of honor.

What I am demonstrating here, is that you cannot judge one by actions alone. You must understand the mindset and values of the person to make any justifiable judgement, and so one should refrain from passing judgement on others/the actions of others without that background. If you're not their best friend and/or a psych major, I seriously doubt you have that background.

My respect, and my honor, take different forms than yours, but it does not mean that they are not there, wether you can see/agree with them or not.

Well, when put that way, it sort of makes respect and integrity sound rather undefined and too broadly encompassing imo.

It almost sounds like  someone could say, "I know all the hacks, and if I let up on you, you'll never see it coming, so you're welcome" with that mentality in mind.

Its sort of a ridiculous analogy, and I know FULL WELL you don't promote hacking pirate, so please do not take it that way.

Imo, when someone asks, "What is the meta's pvp norm?" they are really asking, "What does everyone consider to be the cheap **** you shouldn't do?"

In which case I would say, "Well nothing really, no one seems to care anymore."  And to me, that is a completely different question than, "What rules would balance the playing field a little more?"

    2 entirely different discussions imo.

I think that definition #5 implies that an "honorable" code of conduct is (at least partially) dependent on what the general public agrees is honorable.
