    I'm Burnt Out

Post by SadPanda on Sat Jul 20, 2013 9:28 pm

Dark Souls is getting pretty boring. PvP and PvE. I can't stay playing for more than an hour before getting extremity bored. I've done almost everything that I can, and I still can't find any fun in playing. Hopefully it's just some hype-induced boredom after seeing all of the Dark Souls II stuff.

I'd say take a break and play something else. I found returning to older generation games helpful as its different to why you play dark souls. To be honest the break might be good for your burn out, or maybe just quite games altogether for a bit and stream some tv, plenty of good shows to watch

I got bored and have been doing Demon Souls the last month. Picked up DkS yesterday, loaded it and quit as soon as I got to FL and went to something else. Tonight, back to Demons lol.

Breaks can be good. I certainly take them. What's good about this place is that you don't have to play Dks constantly to maintain a connection to the community. With the popularity of Off Topic where other interests get discussed and with the resurgence of Demon's, there is still plenty to keep people here chatting. If you do want to keep playing Dark, these plateaus are great times to make some edits to both Dark wikis here. There are still plenty of odds and ends missing from the first wiki that seasoned players can fill in, and articles and impressions that can be added to the second wiki. They are the lifeblood of the site so any help we get with edits is invaluable to the community!

Yeah. Take a break, do some other games. I've been doing DeS for the last week or 2 (did a complete coop run in NG and NG+ with twig, and an occasional beef). Awesome break from DkS.

I know that is not much of a break, but it was good for me.

But whatever you do, don't take a permanent break from here, please. cheers

Play something completely different.  And I mean COMPLETELY different.  When I had my slumps I found it created a sort of rebound effect.  The more different the game I used to fill the void was, the more interesting Dark Souls became when I came back.  The times I've done something similar in the meantime such as Demon's Souls replays or Monster Hunter, I...well I still haven't come back to Dark Souls (Monster Hunter too good...).  Playing something different will make you appreciate the good things in Dark Souls.

Personally, I recommend Kirby games. Short, straight-forward, easy. The perfect distraction games while still being enough raw fun that it doesn't ever feel like you're just using them as filler.

I've been on a break for a while now, and the itch worried  is slowly returning. Last week I almost popped in the ol' Dark, and today it was all could think about while I played FIFA (hate all you want but that ish is soooooo addictive). Won't be long now 'til I'm prowling the Townshit and co-oping Pikachu and Snorlax in AL again.

I've been on break myself for a while now, I only return for an hour or two of PVP with a friend. It's the second time I've taken a break from DkS too. I'd just suggest doing something else for a while, there is no use struggling to keep playing a game when it bores you.

Visit a few other lands for a while, I heard Boletaria and Morrowind are beautiful this time of the year.

I had to break away from DkS for awhile as well, there just comes a time where your outta ideas for builds, PvP loses its charm, and the like. A good break will def give you time for some fresh ideas and such. Ive been playing a yugioh game... in america!.... since i broke away from souls. Like Reaperfan said, going to a totally different genre of game helps even more.

picked up the new animal crossing yesterday... its crack, I don't even know why but it is, must catch all fish... anyway a simple but addictive game would be good for you. or you could do something like learning to cook, whether by taking a class or teaching yourself its a great skill to have and
you can never go wrong with edible results!

I started playing Star Wars The Force Unleashed again. I forgot how BEAUTIFUL the graphics are in that game.

The gameplay is solid enough I guess, and using the force to throw everyone around is always fun.

I bought some skins and am doing a Plo Koon and Obi-Wan-Kenobi cosplay.

Once you get used to the combat, it sorta feels like DkS in way.

When this happens a break is good. Assassins Creed 2 is a free download on XBL right now. Play that or something else for a while. I did that a few weeks ago but Dark Souls always sucks me back in. twisted

I've been away from DS for a couple of months, but popped it back in recently with an eye toward trying a bows-only play.

I tend to play Skyrim when I get tired of DkS. Totally the opposite of DkS really in terms of how it functions as an rpg which is good, I love the rich world, relaxing music and ridiculous number of things to do. After a nice chilled out session on there I'm always ready for some more high intensity on DkS.

I was starting to get a little bored today with Dark Souls that's why I've set myself a challenge, going to see how far into the game I can get using just Bow and Arrows.

Capra isn't that difficult with a bow; dodge and run to the (almost) top of the stairs, take out a dog or two (depending if you have the time). Locking onto him and rolling off the edge and climbing the stairs again, getting a shot off when you can, is pretty easy.

Sometimes you can get three or four shots off before you have to evade. The most tedious boss will be the Four Kings and some will be easier than you can imagine.

Play Minecraft. If you have a mobile device get the pocket edition. Its quite an absorbing game depending on how much you like creating things or pottering about. I got around 25 hours of relaxing fun out of it. However once i got bored of it - i was back to Dark Souls in spades (if you excuse the pun). Striking zombies with a stone pickaxe is no-where near as fun as Undeads with a +15 Pickaxe.
