The title says the general idea-is anyone interested in participating in a text-based roleplay set in the Dark Souls (or Demon's Souls) universe?

I was thinking we're going to be using original characters. You're welcome to use camon characters as a basic idea, though.

I am running a RP thread here, it is not related to Dark Souls though.

If I saw the general format of it, I may consider. Such as what the common post length would be, the plot line of it, how it would be set up. Things like that.

I'm flexible with the hard rules. While I prefer a loose, simple set of rules for things like combat, I'm more concerned with getting enough people to play this, and the more in-depth the rules, the fewer people will be interested.

If we do use stats and numbers, I'm thinking something around these lines;
6-8 ability scores
Level range from 0/1 to 5, 10 or 15 (pretty small range)
Having skill values for various skills
Having 'feats' that grant bonuses and/or special abilities (both the customizing factor and replacing class skills)
Maybe using very simple dice rolling rules

I think this is all the people we're going to get right now, so let's discuss the rules. Do you want:
text-based only (no stats, die rolls or anything of the sort)
or light rules? (some stats, simple, low-level range leveling system, etc)

Heyo! I would be interested in this sort of thing. Light rules would be better than straight text only gameplay, but IMO nothing that relies too heavily on chance/roll of the die. I'd be happy with a loose rule set to start out if you were alright with taking PMs from players midgame about incorporating new concepts, balancing them in terms of mechanics and so on.

Can you give us an idea on what you're picturing so far? And then maybe we can build on it from there, tell you any things we'd like changed or simplified etc.

If you'll have me and have patience with some of my struggles then I could be down.

You're both welcome. For light rules, I'm thinking somehing like this:

no classes
several ability scores
small level range (at absolute most, 1-15) hp (if used) small range as well
skills (skills with weapons and spells fall under this)
feats that work similar to feats in Dungeons and Dragons and replace any sort of class feature. These can grant or improve abilities.
weapons deal a flat-out damage with bonuses from relevant ability scores and feats. Determining hit is skill with weapon versus target's armor and dodge (no die rolling)

This isn't meant to be just a long story of dungeon-deling or combat, though; I'm looking to make a world and story where a player can be someone of any kind of vocation, such as a weaver, miner, baker, musician, scholar or noble caught events within the whole of the Souls Universe, not just in Lordran. Combat actually won't be required at all if none of the players are warriors.

This is about exploring and interacting with the entire Dark Souls world. In Demon's souls, I saw enormous cities full of corners to explore, people to interact with, an enormous wealth of adventures to go on-and all I got to do was run through a fairly straightforward path, killing things. I didn't get to climb on top of crates to sneak in; players did not get a chance to go interact with other characters on a deep, intimate basis, such as befriending the overworked, jolly cook and then helping him out of trouble; we were unable to become involved politically, and become familiar with the whole of the culture and events. These I aim to use to breathe life into this.
Be a young scholar hoping to gain entrance to Vniheim and is kept from goingfor monetary reasons, so he becomes involved in dungeon-delving; be a soldier who's daughter has fallen ill to a supernatural disease and inquires every ped

peddler about a cure, and becomes involved in the black market; or play a musician who just wanted to get by and instead stumbled onto a dark conspiracy and is torn between her desire for her own peace and that of thousands, all the while still playing at a local tavern each night.
Characters will not usually be dealing with gods and demigods, the most ancient of dragons and demons. This will live in the wilds and cities of Astora, Carim, Thorolund and Catarina, all the while staying true to the atmosphere and feel of the world as we were shown throuh Lordran. There will monsters and epic events, certainly; just not ones quite so high as dealing with the very fabric of creation.
