    Figuratively speaking of course.

Is anyone else getting tired of invading and finding a host with a red phantom and they expect you to duel until you die? I wouldn't mind it, but it is such a cheap way for hosts to farm souls. Now I just pretend to duel then kill the host as quickly as possible. What do you guys do?

EDIT: So up until around page 3 is a garbled mess, but if you like forum fights then read on!

I try and give the host the benefit of the doubt.

But if he tries anything funny, I forgo all courtesies.

Well if they do anything fishy then I just dump them in the ganker bin. I'm sure most of these people will play fairly, but I just don't like invading and seeing the host not want to fight at all. Normally if you do kill the phantom then these hosts will summon someone else, and they won't fight you at all. That's a good time to BS them though. biggrin

If they don't do anything at all, they might be trying to provide a "ganker free" environment.

I do that in the forest all the time.  But I don't just sit idle and let the downtime get out of hand though.  I usually fight the catbro if they beat my phantom.

However, some catbros will leave me a gift for not jumping them, in which case I go out of my way to summon them a new "contestant".

In my experience, if I'm hosting and fighting an invader in the forest, and an invader of another color appears, the second invader usually goes straight for the first. As a host, this is nice. Especially this morning when I found myself in an unusual amount of 2v1s where I was the one winking

Hmm, if the host keeps his distance reasonable, i'll fight the phantom with an eye on my backside.  It's better than a 1v2, which is probably what happens if I rush the host.  Even if the host goes for a BS, I at least have a window to notice and possibly kill the phantom before he can react.  IMO best move in that situation is to kill the phantom for the souls if possible then heal if damaged.

Let me add that this is NOT in the forest. I normally come across this in the Burg, sometimes several invasions in a row.

People do it in the burg all the time.

I'll invade just for a red to be waiting while the host stands to the side.

We all wave/bow to eachother, me and red eat grass and fight.

If i beat red, sometimes the host will fight or they'll summon another red for me to fight.

I've tried hosting but it gets pretty boring watching everyone fight.

You'll get the occasional douchebag who invades and runs straight at the other red
and backstabs him as he's bowing. That's when that red his teeth knocked down his
throat and i quit hosting lol.

I'd consider it, but I'd rather fight SOMEBODY 1v1 than risk turning the whole thing into a pseudo gank or getting a kill that really has no meaning to me.  Maybe if I'm in the mood to just piss people off, but that's rare.  I like to do that by outplaying people usually.

I host with no weapons sometimes. I just summon people to do battle.

Sounds like you don't like fight clubs.

Even with whats been said I wouldn't sit there for 5-10 minutes or anything. I'd just go kill him too and move on. Maybe B/C out, don't think it matters really.

I've had weird situations pop up while hosting before, that made me do things that I'd normally consider 'odd' or 'shady.' I could give examples, but the point is -- try not to judge *too* quickly. It could just be a unique thing going on just this once.

Example: trading with another player via RSS summons; someone invades, your trading partner goes to fight. LOOKS LIKE he's doing red-deathmatches, but it's actually pretty vanilla.

Example 2: I got invaded by a red in the Burg, who just wanted to hide among fire-tossers and pelt me with poison arrows and ****. Not interested in fighting; I tried to lure him down by setting up a 2v2 match, but he wouldn't come out of hiding; so, to the poor RSS phantom I summoned, it *looked like* I was trying to gank-fest. We didn't; white was legit, RSS was legit, and of course *I'M* totally OG, so it was a nice friendly 1v1 followed by a second 1v1, and the red guy destroyed us both. POINT BEING, it looked shady, but it wasn't, really.

I participate but am usually wary when this happens, i randomly lock off and swing the camera around to see if host is trying to sneak up. 90% of the times it's an impromptu FC and is usually cool.

To be honest, I wish I had stuff like that happening. I'd like nothing better than having two different fights in one invasion. But sadly, whenever I invade a world and see two people dueling, they instantly stop and do whatever it takes to kill me. They don't even give me the benefit of the doubt. And they should see I'm clearly not a tryhard type of invader. Not with my goofy builds. sad

Who needs souls? There is someone so kind to host a FC/Duels and you think HE is cheap?
Is anything cheaper than killing a FC/Duel host with a BS while summoning another phantom for you to fight? Do you need humantiy? Who needs humanity? All my toons have 99 soft and enough hard humantity to fight duels till i die.

Man - what is wrong with the DkS community if no one says how cheap and pathetic this is? Yeah - the no rules environment, fight to win attitude. Can't hear that any longer if such nasty behavior is justified with it.

One more reason to move on - only jerks online....

You do realise that the point of invasions is to kill the host, right? If they want to host a fight club, they're gonna have to fight off invaders to do it.

no word of red and host ganking the invader without checking the intentions of the invader - so it's obviously a FC/duel.
So they are kind enough in a FC to NOT gank the invader while spawning, hoping for some fresh blood.
The point of PvP is to have fun. If your definition of fun is to go in your little brothers room and flip the chess board on which he is playing chess with a friend, then OK your are right.

Don't bring the no rules environment and purpose of invasion argument - it's not valid in this context. Killing FC host is just so anti social. BC out and block list if you don't want to take part, but don't destroy the fun of the duelist and punish the host for beeing kind enough to spend his time hosting for other....it's like killing Mahatma Ghandi, because it's your purpose as a psycho

    edit:
all my toons are DWs - i know pretty well what to do...and what not to do

If a DW invades, they try to win at any cost, the host and any summons try to survive at any cost. You say you are experienced, yet seem to struggle to grasp the basic concept...

Are you one of those guys who gets all hung up about honor, playing by a special set of rules and hoping everybody else wants to play along? It seems that way, and if you can't put up with invaders interrupting your special little fight club, then I think you need to find yourself a new game.

At the end of the day, it's all about fun, and if you need other people to change how they play just so you can enjoy yourself, then you are out of luck.

yes, the no rules / fight to win attitude destroyed the community and PvP and thats the reason most plyaer i enjoyed to fight moved on. The extinction of the dinos....

Nowadays having a last bit of honor seems to be stupid. And believe me, it's not the problem of put up with an invader, it's more a problem with this new attitude you express so well in your sig - disgusting...

Well, let Darwin work - i go back to DeS and hope no one is carrying this over to the last resort for Souls PvP as it was in the good ol' days. Hope to see you and your kind NEVER again online - sick of it

This. But normally if there's no one else around, I'll go to the fight. I figured its just a nice way to anyone that has already killed the area boss to participate in many different duels, without having to wait to invade and stuff

What's holding you down from attacking and killing them both if you don't like this?
Especially since host and the summoned guy can damage each other, it should make it easier than regular gank.
Or you can always :black-crystal: and don't ruin their fun.

I, for one like when I get summoned to such a fight.
Even so, I don't trust people and as such will first ascertain the situation.

What weapons does the host have?
If he has something with high Criticals, like Large Club, or a DST, or if he has a Catalyst, I keep an eye on him the whole time and am prepared for him to try and one shot me. Especially when his friends starts to lose. Lots of guys do this, especially in Burg. yawn

If nothing happens, I will enjoy my stay. For I have a sort of unwritten guarantee that I will get a constant stream of clean fights against skilled players. In the off chance that we run into some douche, that will heal, or something like that, the host usually interferes and we deal with the guy rather swiftly.

Just yesterday. This little fight that I happened to unwillingly host got invaded by a SoV. The guy was probably new and he just waited at the door leading to the Wooden Shield and did nothing. When one of the fighters got close he tried to attack, but then backed up to the archers platform asap. We had him there for a few minutes before he attacked me. He only did a little damage with his Lightning Claymore, but both of the fighters insta ganked him and slaughtered him before I could even turn around. cheers

Usually I'll fight Red number 1 and then move on to host before he summons Red number 2.

I have had instance before where the guy had a white waiting for me, and as soon as I killed the white the host backstabbed me with a Hornet DST before I could even do anything.
