And you see a guy using a Drake Sword, he has the Fang Boar Helm on, and he's even using the Knight Shield, he's obviously a new player.

He's struggling to fight one Silver Knight, and doesn't notice you.

Do you kill him, or do you spare his life?

I'm curious as to how the forum views killing questers.

Personally I engage only if they attack first.

There should be another option. I fight them, but I do not take them seriously. There are one of two things that will happen. I will very easily get them down to no health, throw a Llyod's Talisman at them, do a gesture at them as they attack me, then run away and back out of the world to show them "Yeah, I could kill you. Very easily in fact. But......it's more funny to watch you flail about helplessly."

The other thing I may do is act like I am giving them a serious fight. I will let them hit me a few times, I will hit them, do the usual him block I attack and I block he attacks thing a lot. I will basically give him a good show until both of us are low on health. Then I will try to kill him with a jump attack, or special attack, and see who wins from there. Of course, if they have phantoms with them I will ruthlessly slaughter the phantoms first.

I'll fight them with similar equipment. And since I suck, they sometimes win, so in a way, I'm better at helping than Sunbros :O

Normally once I get done killing a quester, I offer them some help with co-op after.

I'd like to think I'm introducing them to both sides of the game the helpful and the merciless sides.

I'm not here to give them mercy.
I make sure questers at least see me first, but as soon as we've made "eye contact" I kill them no matter what happens.

I've offered help later on some, but not all, occasion.s

If they are in such an unprepared position, I will BC out. If they have better weapons and reasonable gear but run away, THE HUNT IS ON!

When I invade, I very rarely see that. I usually either end up in Dark Anor Londo or face two summons with the twinked-out host. In the former case, they're clearly there for PvP, so I just go ahead. In the latter case, I bow, while leaving a fairly large distance, at which point they often try to rush in for a BS and I introduce them to some unlocked Zwei action. Once in a while, I face an unprepared host before the archers. They usually see me and try to run away towards the archers and die.

While I'm talking about Anor Londo, allow me to share a fun experience. I invaded near the rotating stairs. I quickly realized that the stairs in the host's world were not synced with mine, so we spent about 10 minutes watching each other walk around on an invisible staircase. We eventually managed to somehow fix the issues with the stairs, and had a nice solid duel.

Kill without mercy. Not going to care if he was at the bonfire I will kill him and leave. This is a hard game you should not expect mercy when it gets harder.

This needs a 'wait until he kills it and then murder him with a riposte' option. I voted option 3 for the hell of it,not a fan of dropping items but I am going to kill after a pause, just not without mercy.

In the situation you just stated, I would also simply bow, leave a present to help them out, and leave if they don't attack. If they look like they can handle themselves, which I do not quite know what symbolizes that, then I will just make them aware of my presence and fight. If they are clearly expecting me, then I just buff and go attack.

I'll slaughter him, perhaps with a little torture before offering the host a merciful death.
Then I'll message him, asking them if he wants help getting through the location.

I'll kill them, but I'll let them heal and clear out the area first. Usually, I swap my equipment on them to try out different weapon I want to test out, but yeah, I take them out.

I never got treated mercifully by any invader in Anor Londo on my first playthrough.

If it's a drake sword then rapier, hornet ring and riposte. These players need to be educated further on the unforgiving nature of this game.

I like to play with my food before killing it.  Or maybe I'll just dance around for awhile.  Who knows? Depends on my mood.

If I invade my goal is to kill the host.  One of the things that I loved back when I first played Demon's was the thrill of having an invader show up while I was questing.  Even though I never killed an invader on that first playthrough, I never got upset.  It just made me want to get better.  In short random invades are one of the series great strengths, and "showing mercy" takes away from that imo.  That's not to say I won't toy with an inexperienced host though.

Also I never drop items, especially to a new player.  Dropping humanity before killing a host never made sense to me.  Got killed by me while questing?  Okay drop a white sign and get yourself a humanity, some souls, and some experience with the level.  Dropping anything more valuable (weapons, armor, upgrade mats) is worse than killing a new player.  You're robbing them of the experience of finding it for themselves for the first time.

I tend to drop Humanity when I feel bad for host. If I invade in the Parish, for example, and find the host walking around looking for Summon Signs, I'll drop a Humanity so that they can continue on their merry way even after I kill them. I'm talking, of course, about the type of player that nobody would ever want as a summon - the player who clearly cannot last through the level without healing. Thus, these players will likely never be able to "drop a white sign and get [themselves] a humanity". The Humanity drop really is out of pity. Sure, some people will say that if the player is that bad, they shouldn't be playing Dark Souls. I say that they spent the sixty bucks, so let them have some sense of enjoyment.

I have a vision of an evil invader standing at the top of the ledge (with a fog ring equipped) between the two snipers using a greatbow to strike the humans as they try to run up the narrow walkway.

Ah man! I just got to Anor Londo on ng+ fighting the first gargoyle. After I struck the killing blow, an invader backstabbed me. That stupid pop-up was showing me the weapons I had won and the invader killed me before I could get some space between us. Evil, evil invader.

Oh, well. Back to the game... I sure hope he invades again.

I'd probably wait for him to finish the knight off (probably.) If I'm feeling really generous I'll drop a humanity.

    Then he dies.
