PS3 Modder?

I was horsing around in the burg last night on my 120, and kept running into this Japanese player. Every time he invaded, he would run up to the firebomb hollows and then start spewing these poison or toxic clouds. He could project them all the way from where the hollows stood onto either the dueling area, or the platform above the merchant. It looked like he was throwing or casting something that left a poison trail in the air and made a hissing sound, and then when it impacted it would trigger a cloud that looked and sounded exactly like the respective pyro spell poison or toxic mist. He seemed to have an infinite supply of these things. At one point I was standing up above the merchant and just sort of watching as he kept firing these things at me and the clouds got closer and closer. I couldn't even target him with my black bow of pharis from there, but he could reach me.

Does anybody have any idea what this is? Is this guy modding on the PS3 somehow? I checked youtube but haven't found any footage of it.

I dont know to be honest, when I've used toxic mist it never moves... :|

maybe it follows the target or something? though that is unlikely

You can aim it and launch them pretty far actually, now if it was a heat seeking mist that is suspicious.

He was launching them faster than the usual cast time, and seemed to have an infinite supply of them. Can you really go up on the platforms and launch a poison mist onto the dueling area? Whenever I cast it, it floats directly in front of me aimed or unaimed. I use those spells all the time. I was too far away for him to lock on me - as I said I couldn't even hit him with my bow.

Well let me think, you can get two slots worth in one playthrough, so he might have been on some form of NG, and with high dexterity your Pyromancy casts go faster, but this could have been someone modding to boost these effects, I'm not sure. I know I've seen people with infinite health and stamina on the PS3, but this one I'm not sure about.

Yeah you can launch them pretty far, I use it as crowd control in the forest a lot and if you arc it right it will go extremely far.

You can throw things fairly far from that platform. I've thrown firebombs pretty far. Perhaps he's throwing dung and the long distance toss is causing odd effects. Has anyone thrown dung from that platform? Monkey style combat.

Pig Head plus Smough's armor duel wielding bows, makes you look like you literally pick it right out of the back and toss it at them.

Huh, I will have to test I guess. Thanks guys. I had summons with me several times when this happened and nobody had ever seen anything like it. Don't think it was dungpies, I've eaten enough of those to know heh.

Another annoying thing with this guy is that he would be invisible for a good 10 seconds whenever he invaded -- you would just randomly start taking damage, and then after 10 seconds his toon would suddenly pop into existence right next to you wherever you were, at the same time as the invasion message. I assume that's just lag, but the whole thing was really suspicious.

That would mean he connected to your world before it was registered to have happened, which doesn't really make any sense to me. Now that part sounds fishy.

Yeah it was weird. Plus he was wearing full black knights and using BKGA. I've had my share of pvp, but I'm not gonna lie: having a red phantom black knight with a giant axe suddenly materalize at your side in the middle of cutting you in half kinda made me want to pee myself a little bit lol.

Yeah, Griefers will be found in all walks of life. Sauron with an axe startling you can be pretty terrifying.

Last night in the forest I saw a guy leaving a trail of toxic mist literally from one side of the forest to the other. This thing was LONG. It went from the sheer rock halfway between where the Eastern Armor is and the Artorias Gate all the way to the low point by the Pharis wannabe archer. It seemed like a continuous jet of mist too, not one cast and the person appeared to be casting while moving. I didn't know how much of this was possible to be honest. I am on PS3 too and have seen at least one confirmed infinite health and a couple I suspected.

@skarekrow that sounds very similar, if you did something like that from up high onto people below you.

Kinda sucks, I was hoping the PS3 was immune to the hackers. Hadn't seen one of the infinite health people yet.

My confirmed infinite health guy was in Anor Londo and tried to get me to kill my Giant Blacksmith. I ended up egging him into the fight out of that area but he wouldn't go near any edges to knock him off of. I was using the Lifehunt and saw my bleed bar go up several times but never any damage to him.

Bleed doesn't kill them, to my knowledge fall damage is the only way.

if they're going to hack why something like the mist spells? i've seen japanese players arc fire bombs practically acrossed the undead burg cause they know the angles to throw at and don't use targeting. great, now i've gotta make a mist user to test this stuff out... oh well after testing i can repurpose it for a forest streaker build.
