I could be missing something as well, one more thing needed to do.

After you reload and respawn inside the arena he will not aggro when you take the clothes, you can even shoot him with arrows. But if you just wait without reloading he will aggro if you attack him or take the clothes. (at least he did so while being online)

- I did the waiting offline, quit the game, then logged in and reloaded, and spawned inside. Warped back to the bonfire to try something else.
- Then i tried to just stand and wait (online), and picked up her clothes without reloading, but he aggroed. I then quickly reloaded after he attacked once, and he was docile again.

After you have done the reload trick:
- If you just go down to the fog nothing happens.
- If you go to the fog after you take the clothes, he will come running once you get there.
- Maybe you have to wait, then go down to the fog (instead of reloading), go back and take the clothes, then back to the fog again.

I'll see if I have another character I can sacrifice. Taking the clothes prevents more experiments, so I'll try to attack him instead.

Tried another character, same outcome. This time I tried to run back into the arena once he comes running, and he started attacking instead.

But it doesn't feel right if it involves reloading. And why the respawn point in that area? Are there any other ways to respawn without reloading? Homeward bone just takes me back to the last bonfire. Could try dying.

I'm on the fifth character now, trying the wait without meeting my assumed requirements.
/ And it respawns... Looks like it was just a matter of waiting in the right spot long enough. I tried every combination the first time, but I probably messed up the location. This character is way of white with a minor egghead. I'll remove the head and try again.

Have you tried attacking the wall you respawn in front of? Or getting him to hit the wall your in front of?

Yes, both resulted in nothing.
I'm all out of ideas, everything I could think of trying came up with no further results. I also quit the game completely, started it back up and respawned at the same spot, so it's not a cached data bug either. The egghead wasn't even necessary.

Does Ceaseless die when you do this? Do you have to kill him to get out of the arena? This might be what the director was talking about.

Holy shiiiiii........

Took two offline tries and respawned just like you showed! Not sure if I dare grab the set. Only have one shot unless I beat the game again. Edit** I did an improptu journal of shenanigans and outcomes so I wouldn't forget what I did.

I just did a bunch if gestures in front of ceaseless and quit/reloaded at the spot. Still in the arena. Then I quit from a different spot. Reloaded in the spawn point but facing the new direction

Turned online mode back on. Still spawning inside.

Turned console off. Starting game online. Still spawning inside.

Looked around. Nothing else seems to do anything. Gonna grab the clothes.

Grabbed em, cured egghead, quit game. Spawned inside. Put on clothes and witches ring. Nothing new.

Completely docile until I reached the door. I never did the run kill before with him. What normally happens. Don't wanna spoil anything if this is different

Ok. I stopped for the night. Ceaseless is still alive. I confirmed that I will reset in the arena with a peaceful lava monster. Anybody, rattle off some things to try before I have to off him. About the only limitation is that I already used my chaos pyro so I am out of magic. A lot of weapons are in the box too.

Ublug.....How many times did it take on your first character to land this? I tried it at least six or seven times. I got a possible theory to float by you.....

Ublug's testing seems to suggest that covenant, egghead and equipment don't matter. Sorry Ublug if I get it wrong but it seems like you also found it CAN work on or offline.

My tests reveal that equipment is unlikely to be a factor. I was Chaos +2 and Egghead but I trust you fully ublug in saying that these don't matter. I ended up doing this offline but it didn't work until the second offline trial. Also, with the last few online trials I was standing in a near identical spot to where it eventually worked. Once it does work I think we've both confirmed that you can quit/reload from anywhere in the arena.

Soooo.....Ublug...how did you come across ten minutes for the time? My theory is that you'll need an hour or better. If you add all my trials I was between an hour and an hour and a half in total time just standing around in there. It seems that the concept is that you are demonstrating your lack of hostility and/or commitment to the memorial. For a guy determined to watch his sister for eternity, he's gonna need a LOT of proof. Also, From is infamous for the "look at this item 255 times" secret, which is kind of a preposterous dedication to details. If others are testing, KEEP TRYING! This definitely works, we just need to work on the details.

I was just messing around in the boss area after getting an egghead, then left my character there while doing some other stuff, when I came back I reloaded to skip the walk back to the fog. Figured I triggered something when I spawned inside the arena.

I'm still not satisfied with the results. He also said 'without killing' so there could be another approach, unless it's a translation issue, but I believe the spawn point is part of it.

I originally thought a rock worm would come out of that wall by the altar and transport you to the first hidden bonfire in the next area. The fact that this next bonfire doesn't spawn unless you kill ceaseless kind of goes toward this theory, or something similar.

Yeah, the "without killing" part is a thorn in my side too. I wonder if he meant without "fighting." I just looked at the wiki strategies and I guess I won't spoil anything if I talk more about the end result. Still gonna put it in spoiler camouflage though. Ublug....I know you held back a good deal so if the spoiler is too much let me know and I will take it down. This is your show. Also, do you know about how long you left your character there? I'm starting to think that the only key to this is time in the arena without messing around with stuff.

I hit every wall with gs+15, nada
Left pendant at altar and in front of ceaseless by fog gate. Nada
Confirmed arrows have no effect before he chases you. Not only does he not aggro, they don't do damage. It seems they want you locked in to the scene at the gate.
Noticed that, when he chases you, his right side opens up into a giant lava cavity. Half of his chest seems hollow.
Arrows burn when they hit him. Cool!
Homeward bone works normally.
No new dialogues from Quelaan, Eingyi or Quelana.
New enchilada doritos are awexome.
Returning to the arena aggros him and he now uses his fire attack
Quitting game places me outside the fog now.
Can't get get him to make the jump at me. Just keeps using fire. He's pretty pissed at me
Had to put him down. Research is done for now.
Was going back to try undead rapport and seek guidance

Lol. Before I left the area and blew it, he just hung on waiting for death. Walking into him didn't damage me even. He definitely showed a different strategy than when he was mad. Not even a whisper of an attack until I left and came back. Then all fire, all day.

I was really hoping I would be able to resume in the arena by using homeward bone and stepping inside and doing the quit/reload trick. Sadly I had done just about everything I could think of with what I had in the arena. Was hoping undead rapport when he's asking you to kill him would do something or that Oscar had left me a message there. Might have to do another playthrough eventually :x
