So a Friend and I are...

Possibly creating a dark souls themed dubstep/electronica-hardcore mashup ep this summer. Just a small project recorded in our bedrooms. Nothing fancy. It'll be up for free download and all that jazz... Now since him i and maybe one other person I know are the only people that I know who play dark souls (in "real" life) I'd like to hear from the community. What would you like to hear? As far as the lyrics go that is, we've got a pretty set idea on the sound of it.


We're working with a few ideas and are not really sure where to go. Whether it should take the form of a concept album and tell a story of one's journey or an npc's journt through dark souls, or if it should have lyrics based from various lore.

So yeah, just wondering what people would like to hear... if anything lol.

Maybe a small note that isn't too significant, just an idea. I think ending it on a down note would be great with the theme of the game. As well definitely, do not just make it focus too much on death. I do feel that is way overplayed when people talk about the game. Though this would focus more on if it isn't a narrative. An interesting idea I think if you go the NPC Route, Lautrec. That would also allow for it to be pretty distorted and creepy sounding I think, which might turn out pretty well in the grand scheme. I know very little about music by the way, so don't take my ideas with much salt. Just a few thoughts that could possibly help.

Just sample the **** out of all the NPCs..

@serious_much I lol'd. I won't be doing much sampling from the game as good audio files from the game are really hard to find. The ones I can find to come through right when I sample them.

Hmm lyrical dubstep? I keep imagining sampling of the dialogue. Solaire would make a pretty good subject for naive optimism and give you a reason for contrasting lush soundscapes with the dirtier textures. As we all know, his dialogue is sampling gold. But if you aren't doing samples I am not sure how to approach it.

I think you're misunderstanding the genre a bit. Its more along the lines of metalcore, with dubstep electronics incorporated.

just the first 20 seconds of the thing then you put up some other music that doesn't make you want to cry as soon as you hear it
