I am seriously looking into buying some used PS3 just to play Demon's Souls, because DS was so good. Since Demon's is the only game that even comes close to DS, I think its worth the investment, at least to hold me over until DS2 silly . Just thought I would drop my thoughts on the matter ^^

    * Edit: Dark Souls IS (not was) happy

Demon's Souls is well worth the buy. Don't forget that your PS3 (should) come with a PS+ card, and as a PS+ member you have access to Demon's Souls for free, so you don't have to buy it as long as you're a member.

Great game, 10/10, still play it every once and awhile.

If you can find an affordable PS3, it's absolutely worth it.  It's my personally biased opinion that Demon's is actually a bit better than Dark Souls winking

The atmosphere in Demons Souls is much better.
In Dark Souls it looks like they played with the brightness a bit too much.

The BS is not much of a problem in Demons Souls - yes it's there where it should be, to punish bad timed slow attacks, but nothing more.

Grass for phantoms is much better imo, and loosing something if invasion fails, or even for loosing a fair duel via summon sign.
So much reasons i prefer Demons Souls in the last few weeks. I even enjoy fighting some of the KI badasses, because some of them are real badasses NPCs. In Darks Souls you have to go to ng++ with a sl4 toon to make one of the NPCs in Darks Souls a real thread.

Just a quick note before you play: Take your time.

Demon's will punish you severely for making mistakes, Dark Souls is nothing compared to it.

I heard Dark Souls was a bit more brutal than Demons? Either way I'll heed your advice but I'm ready for some punishment :p

IMO and IME, in terms of general gameplay Dark Souls is a little more brutal, but in terms of punishing you for making mistakes, Demon's does it so severely that Dark Souls doesn't even compare.

You'll learn on your very first death how harshly it punishes you.

Lovely, I can't wait :)But I bet the rewards are similar meaning you feel like you can conquer anything ^^ The blood, sweat and tears really I think is what make it such a great game (and the high anxiety/nervousness/panicky/scaredness etc). High risk = High Reward!

Just to cap this thread.. Demons is exactly what I thought and wanted. Beat Phalanx with no death until I tried the red eyed demon afterward, and lost pitifully :p getting DS NG+ first does give you a good head start for skill if giving Demons a go with never had been tried before. The Riposte and backstab is about the same, though missing the jump swing style. Anyway, I love it and am sucked into Demons just as I had hoped. Praise the Sun! Hopefully the servers stay up long enough for me to get my fix ^^

    And don't worry.

The red eye'd knight is tough if you low level. There are some tricks but you have to be quick. Check the wiki for ways to get him.

lol red eye - wait till you know who he is guarding and try to get the ring from him, the sword is easy, but the ring is hard. Challenge: do it without summon and without BS or parry twisted

    Psh, easy.
Push him off the edge that leads to the Cling Ring.

You can kill him with a brand new file if you hit him off while he's still talking about the sword.

Since he won't aggro on you as long as you don't do damage.

You can't summon on 1st playthru in that area. You start as a hollow. NG+ you can but most people do that soon as possible
