Anti-Gank Mode (ON) OFF Empty Anti-Gank Mode (ON) OFF

Post by PaPaSmVrf Wed Jun 19, 2013 12:38 am

Welcome friends! I had a crazy idea, and I think its just crazy enough to work, here is my proposal for those of us who invade the forest where a gank squad is waiting...

I have recently discovered that you can survive a fall off a certain cliff that drops you into the Darkroot Basin (survived with around 25% heath at 40 VIT using RoFaP) and I thought that this would be a perfect way to irritate those silly ganksters, here's how it works:

    1. Invade the world of a gank squad (of course)
    2. Dodge your way through their rush and run towards the area that harbors all of the tree/plant people, hugging the right hand forest wall
    3. Follow this wall all the way until you get to a cliff, roll off to the right hand side (towards the wall) and drop down into the Darkroot Basin
    4. Enjoy!

The beauty in this is that no matter what happens after you make it to the Darkroot Basin, it will mess up the gank squad. They have to pursue you, or else they cant have any more DW's invade their world, ruining their ganking. If they pursue, when they land in the Basin, you are set up perfect to either BS them or hit them with some magic, whatever you like, since they will be at low health. If they don't pursue, then they can no longer gank.

If anyone else has already posted this idea, forgive me. I'm sure I am not the only one who has thought of this, but I just had to share since it smacked me in the face today at work.

Please tell if you have build suggestions, ideas, or tips to help in this, because I would love to empower more people with the ability to at least have a chance against gank squads. If nothing else, aggravate them when they have to disband and get back together because your chill'n in the Basin like a vill'n with a gold tooth fill'n.  twisted

Sorry for the long read, and as always,

this used to happen a lot, the gankers would either follow and make easy prey or ignore you and keep spamming the dried finger, lately the later is the most common response which then ends up with you unable to hit them and them unable to get you, the most you end up accomplishing is making it harder for more invaders to show up... unless you somehow manage to put down so many prism stones that it lags their game till it crashes....

Great idea with the Prism Stones. I wonder if 99 is enough. If it is, that is quite cost effective at just under 1000 souls.

I've done that. Then, made my way back to the fog gate next to the bonfire and just sat there taunting them. You'll force them to either die or reset.

Assuming that you entered through the big door that requires the Crest of Artorias to open, just keep right, hugging the wall, and you will eventually reach a cliff. Just jump down and you'll be in the Basin.

I'll try that on some gankers asap.

Also, about your signature BrotherBob... Good luck.

A good idea, but pointless. I'm not going to sit there doing nothing in darkroot basin for god knows how long just to spite a few gankers (who can still get invaded by DMs and forest hunters anyway)...

Lol, that... is... awesome! Come to think of it though, I haven't played on my DMB for some time now. I've been mostly Gravelording or invading as a Forest Hunter. I have to think on what I should use as a new sig.

And if they just leave you in the basin they can have all the 2v1 they want with invaders following you. This is just like the afk invaders in the forest. Most of the time I don't need to rely on second invader, but the times that I really would have needed one and after dying I see an afk in some corner it really frustrates me. Forest PvP is not about running away, it's going in with everything you got. Doing this is never going to get you wins against gankers, nor is it going to make you better fighting them. Sure you could have fun with this, I just wouldn't.

The drop to the basin trick is fun.  Do this.   After you drop, heal. Run over to the hydra side where the fog gate is, after you climb the ladder and wait near the fog gate to taunt them when they finally find you.

Kinda OT.   In Oocalile Township, when invading into a gank squad.  Dodge and run into the level if possible. Many times I've died trying but the times I'm successful sometimes gets the host killed when they actually try to come and find me.  Humanity gained, only some time waiting, wasted.

I heard there exists a similar jump in the kiln(can someone confirm this?) that will lead you in an area you shouldn't be, but never saw how it works. Does anyone know this?

Grab your nintendo DS or a good book.  Occasionally send the gankers a nice, pre-saved message to troll them.

This idea has been around but it's still awesome.  I've searched extensively for ways back into the woods but never found one.

To answer a question above, 99 prism stones would not be enough to crash their game in my experience.  A phat PS3 can handle about 950 before it stops showing an animation for throwing them and at 1,000 stones I had a fairly bad framerate problem but was still uncrashed.  My new slim PS3 seems like it would be able to handle less but it's unlikely 99 would be a major factor.

Other fun tricks I've done with the Basin Jump, PM the host of a gank squad that I left a gift for them by the fire outside the fog gate.  Wait a minute or two to make sure they had time to read it.  Then start banging on the fog door. Make sure they know you're actually right there.  I've had hosts start hitting the door back.  They can't check to see if there's a gift unless the fog lifts so they might remove their phantoms which is funny in the hope that you'll leave to open the door.  This is essentially just a time waster until they suicide but if all you're looking for is ganker torment this is top notch.

Befowler discovered, and I've confirmed, that there is a certain location where a skillful bow user can get arrows to land right around the stairs. The distance means you won't hurt or kill anyone likely (even with feather arrows and a hawk ring) but Great Bows might still do their knock back.

The fog door by the Hydra ladder/bridge is a great place to taunt people from.

And now for my obligatory "here's what 1,000 prism stones does to a phat PS3" demonstration for the four people who haven't seen it

Do this only to groups of 3 gankers.
Whenever I run into the rare experience of 1 host and 2 phantoms on my stream, I instantly run over to the ledge.

I am currently doing it. Invaded three gankers. Ran over to the ledge, and hid myself. Been waiting for like 10 minutes now, one of the phantoms black crystal'd out. Let's see what happens now.

Edit: The second phantom also crystal'd out, the host got invaded, and died. I got 3000 souls, but the satisfaction is worth a million!

If you see they are at the fog gate you can kill them with certain weapons, or if you can hit them hard enough with a jumping attack.  If you can activate RTSR, and get Power Within going at the same time, with weapons like the Demo Great Axe two handed you can do a jumping attack.  Jumping attacks don't bounce off walls, and you can one shot them if they are standing against the fog.

Another trick is with the R2 with weapons like the Black Knight Greatsword, or Greatsword of Artorias.  If you use the R2 and send just the tip through the fog, if they are a bit to the left and you stand on the right side, you'll send them flying back off the stairs and cause them to fall to their death.
