Question on New Londo Ruin Empty Question on New Londo Ruin

    Post by Lasombra2nd Sat Jun 22, 2013 10:08 am

I am new to this game, so forgive my lack of knowledge.  happy

I am about to enter New Londo Ruins.  I am SL 74, Dex 35, Str. 35 and I have Iaito +10 (that I use the Fire consumable item on), and I have a Divine Uchigatana +5.

I know that New Londo is chock full of Ghosts, Banshees, and more goodies, but which sword do you guys think will work better.  I've no doubt that I'm going to die (that's what this game is about, and the challenge makes it so addictive), but which sword would work better to give me a fighting chance?

I'm pretty good at combat right now, but I was just wondering which sword will be more effective.

Thank you all for your input.  big grin

At those stats, the Iaito will easily beat the Uchigatana for any enemy.

The only exception would be during one of the Four Lord fights where there are a few skeletons that come after you, the Divine Uchi can be used on the Skeletons, but the Iaito should be used for the boss.

So the Iaito with the "Fire" consumable item would be the way to go.  Cool, thanks very much for the info.  I read that the Skeletons reform after you knock them down, I take it the "Divine" effect stops that?  You know, being a "Holy" effect and all?

Yes, the Holy effect will keep skeletons from respawning, the only exception is if you kill the corresponding Necromancer, but that's only for the Catacombs. The boss I mentioned has no Necromancer so it's either kill them with a Divine or deal with them for the entire fight, the latter being extremely hard if you haven't had practice with it.

For the New Londo boss, you should use the Gold Pine Resin instead of the Charcoal Pine Resin.
    Two reasons for that:
    1. Gold Pine Resin adds more Lightning damage than Charcoal Resin adds Fire damage.
    2. The boss is weaker to Lightning than Fire.

You'll do about 1.7x extra damage for using a Gold Resin instead of Charcoal.

Good to go.  Thanks for the tip on the Four Kings boss.  It'll be helpful very quickly.  lol
