Variety and it's benefits Empty Variety and it's benefits

In Demon's Souls and Dark Souls they've never really expirimented with varied terrains or cultures to a great extent. It seems that From has a castle and swamp fetish mainly; considering that makes up about 75% of Souls games, I think they should go into more depth with varied terrain.

But not only terrain. It seems as if From swings in favor of weapons in each Souls game too. I notice a lot more of the European inspired weapons over more oriental and outland weapons. In Demon's Souls, I can only think of about 6 weapons that aren't specialties that have non European descent (off the top of my head). In Dark Souls, I can think of about 15 or so. But even then 15:100~ ratio is a little inbalanced.

The lack of medium armor sets frustrates me as well. From my perspective I'm either struggling for medium roll in heavy armor, or trying to find more protection with lighter armor. Medium sets were nearly non existent. The amount of armor sets under 10 units with poise are 4~, maybe! Hollow soldier and warrior, chainmail, Channeler's, and Lord's Blade.

If From combined the needed structure of diversity and variation, Dark Souls II will indeed be their best. Imagine struggling through a Roman town of small nooks and crannies, then stumbling upon a colliseum with seemingly endless waves of lesser soldiers; only to be greeted abruptly by a group of centurions! Moving through a rice paddie with traps laying underwater, creeping towards a temple.

These great aesthetic changes would prove for more diverse gameplay and mechanics.
