The Archmages Magical Realm of Interesting Builds

Post by SirArchmage on Fri May 31, 2013 2:07 am

Been having a lot of fun making these builds, they are hilarious, and min-maxing is oddly fun. Especially when I min-max a gimmicky build and it turns out to be absolutely great in PvP. So here are some more builds, and I will put down the builds I have done before so they are all in one nice little spot.

Kitty Kat: A ninja flipping, stamina regen character with claws and thorn armor. Add power within and that is a lot of damage with now a lot of people being able to hit you. Immensely fun to use, especially if you find the rare soul that has zero poise. Stun-locking with claw-r1 and ninja flips. *** yeah.

MagicDad: Are people still complaining about giantdads? Really? Show those people that there is something much worse to fear, with the MagicDad(name coined from TooLeet). Plus, everything looks better in black.

Corvo Attano: I know it has been done before, but with around 70 builds already made in this thread I an running out of ideas. Corvo Attano from Dishonored, with his signature crossbow and shortsword. Bonus points if you manage to do some parkour skills with him.

Hawkeye Gough: Another cosplay, but this one because I have yet to see a cosplay of him. Pretty self-explanatory, this one.

Sir Knight Artorias of the Abyss: Why this one? Such a commonly used cosplay? 'Cause no one makes good ones! Never do you see one with the shield. All of them are dark hand and Abyss Greatsword with some dark magic thrown in. Hardly ever do I see one with the original sword and shield, before he fell to corruption. Be the true Artorias of the Abyss with this build.

"But it has split damage, and lower health!"

Shut the @&$# up already! twistedevil

The Dark Sun Gwyndolin: Another cosplay, because it is another that I rarely see due to the nature of the build. No dark magic for lore reasons, and small intelligence because it does not affect scaling on the catalyst. Estoc because it is the closest thing I could get to a weapon that Gwyndolin would use, seeing as his Darkmoon Knightess uses it.

The Host with the Most: Decided to make an overleveled build. Purely designed to be a host. Magic? Check. Poise? Check. Faith? Check. High health? Check. Able to use any weapon except for the very high strength ones, and basically just for stomping on any invader that dares come into your world. And the best part? Less Darkmoons!!

    Eleventh seven builds:
Spell-sword again: I just love battle-mages and spell-swords. For obvious reasons. Here is one where you will be using the GMW buff, the soul arrows for cheesing people at a distance, dark bead for mid-range and black flame for close range. Not too much gimmicky about this, just effective.

Low-leveled Spell-Sword: Essentially just a lower leveled version of the above. With great aesthetics.

Sneaky Rogue: Duel wielding rogue with spells that would aid in stealth, and GMW to give extra damage to a backstab. And of course, a Pharis bow for sniping targets. If this were a Brent Weeks novel this build would probably be called a Wetboy.

Low-leveled Grim Reaper: As if lower levels didn't have enough to fear from invaders, here is this guy. Hidden weapon and fog ring for a more ghostly feel, and fire surge because it will freak out newer people. Could be switched to poison mist for more ghostly effects. Fall control because you would mostly be using this in the catacombs, and this can be used for a quick escape. Even better, since new people would not know about the jumps and thus be surprised that after you just jumped off a cliff you would be back to kill them.

Farmer John: Just a simple farmer. Wondering why everything is attacking him. Crafted a shield out of some planks he found and fends people off with his pitchfork and trusty pocket knife, and prays for assistance from the gods to help him.

Ninja: A ninja has invaded your world, and plans to come out of no where and stab you in the back. Rapier for the backstab and Iaito for the next attack to finish him off. Pyromancies to aid in your escape if you fail to kill them the first time, and general bad-assery.

The Annoying Mage: Everyone hates this guy. The pure magic user, and when that fails, spear poking. Even a comp bow to strafe back and take pot-shots at them with. And then he gets to laugh and spam dark bead at your dying corpse. Mage Mage Mage

    Tenth five builds:
Battle-Mage 2.0: I wanted to make a better battle-mage, now that I have better learned how to create builds that are effective. So I made this, the mage for every situation. Has the armor and health to take a few hits, magic damage high enough to change the fight in one spell(Crystal Soul Spear does roughly 1000 to 1090 with this set up), the ability to go on the defensive with a bow and shield poking, and stamina regen to keep pressure up by hitting their shield with plenty of chip damage. It is perhaps the most effective build that I have at this point.

V for Vendetta: A build based off the famous V. Armor for cosmetic reasons, with exception to the giant armor, though that is just for enough poise to tank a two-hand katana or straight sword hit. Dagger for basic attacking and Dark Silver tracer for ripostes.

The Hidden Warrior: Ever hear someone say how fast the R2's on the Zwei were and how much range they had? It is notorious for catching people off guard. Now you'll catch just about everyone off guard with your giant invisible sword. Hidden body to fit with the theme, as well as the fact that Dark Hand is completely invisible when using Hidden Body. With a weapon and shield that no one can see you are definitely going to be called a hacker quite a few times(I know that I was).

The Strength Mage: Black magic and strength. Make no one get anywhere close to you with black magic, havel shield, and a buffed Dragon King Greataxe. Demon Great Machete for a wider range of attacks as well.

"Screw the Forest!": A build made purely for the forest. After many aggravated hours of being killed by ganking hosts I got tired of it and made this monstrosity. Poise to tank anything, as well as the health to win a spamming match. WoG to spam at them after getting a back stabbed or being surrounded, stamina regen to keep up pressure while the buff is on, as well as the fact that two-handed Falchion spam can dead-angle. This kills things so fast it nearly isn't fun to use it anymore. Nearly. Can also tack on PW if you are a risk taker, though it really isn't needed.
    Ninth six builds:
The Slaver: A slaver, pretty self explanatory. The mask and upperbody piece are obviously cosmetic, and pyromancy for extra versatility.

The Dominatrix: A fairly disturbing build to fight(and use). All sharp edges and tight clothing. Feels like an employee at Hot Topic decided to come into Dark Souls.

The Plague: Poison, poison, toxic and more poison. Can strafe around the enemy and wait for him to get toxic and poisoned, watching him slowly wither away. Plus a gold tracer for extra annoyance.

God Killer: The holy stand not a chance for this raging beast of black armor, occult weaponry and velka miracles. Definitely not a build to be trifled with.

The Flash: All about speed with this one. Using a under-estimated weapon, this build will win a war of attrition against the enemy, and if all else fails, the red tearstone activates and go stun-lock crazy against the enemy with black flame.

Think your tough?: A low-leveled build meant to take out those pesky people that try to win with how much higher level they are. Teach those level 500's whose boss with this level 30!

    Eighth seven builds:
Tolvo the Great - Tolvo: Build made by Tolvo. With that awesome hat, stunlocking weapon, OP shield and pyro to boot, how could you go wrong? Many ways, but still, look at that hat. You really going to beat someone up with a hat as cool at that? Thought so.

Tolvo the Slightly less great: A build dedicated to Tolvo the great! By far the best build in existence. Absolutely no flaws whatsoever with this build.

The She-Witch: A woman born straight from the depths of hell has come up to wreck filthy casuls in Dark Souls. With Witch attire for looks, the spells that this build has could easily cause some damage, as well as some help from a buffed BSS and balder shield, this is not an easy to take down build. Just, try to not get hit too much.

Gandalf: A build dedicated to the famous wizard gandalf. Able to use a wide variety of spells to suit his need, even has his ring of power to help him out if the situation gets desperate. This build works a full 90% better if you stand on a bridge and yell "YOU SHALL NOT PASS" while shooting sorceries at people.

The Chubby Chaser and The Chubbier Chaser: A team of chubby chasers, lurking through the forest together to catch some invaders to eat. Chubby chaser has his butcher knives to cut them up and fire to roast them until they are good, and the Chubbier chaser has some convenient forks and a plate(plank shield) to eat with. Beware the forest, for not only shall you be ganked, you shall be eaten.

He-Man: He-Man has come, and he has the power to deal some damage. Pretty standard build, and the armor is the closest thing to what He-Man actually wears. Make sure to watch out for any Skeletors out there.

    Seventh six builds:
To kill a hacker: Ever get angry at infinite health online? Tired of those +15 crystal weapons? Feel like burning your xbox when someone uses “Ancient Pulse” on you? Well look no further! With this build all your hacking problems are solved. Infinite health? Tell that to my bleed effect. +15 crystal weapons? Tell that to my 53 poise, massive health and fast roll. And if all else fails, push em’ off a cliff with force, or just bore them to death as they continuously go through the spamming of 63 force and 3 WoG.

Pyramid head - Lunarfog A low leveled version of pyramid head, from the wicked mind of Luna. As if Dark Souls wasn't terrifying enough for the new players, they have this following them around the map. Changed slightly from Luna's design, but still hers.

The low leveled bounty hunter A hunter of stealth. With a hornet ring, with that dex at that level, it is going to be a one hit kill. Not meant for a one on one fight however, so just use your handy-dandy ninja smoke(poison mist) to disguise your disappearance and run away!

Overboard: Lower levels just can’t compete with this. Ultra greatswords, tanks, gankers, nothing. This build is nearly impossible to take down at this level. I have used this in the Warrior of Steel tournament and the only died by the hands of Latitoast, giving me 20 kills and 2 deaths. The message of caution I have with this build is simply this: go easy on them.

Heavenly Wrath: A faith tank, with miracles and divine weapons to slay any and all that you meet and deem unworthy. Which, this is Dark Souls, so just stab everyone you see. I am fairly bad at faith builds, and also do not enjoy the faith buffs too much, so the build has a bit of a stunted potential. Still, not something to be easily trifled with.

The Demon: Power. All there is to it. Overwhelm the enemy with your giant axe, endurance, and just generally frightful appearance. Pyromancies to give more of the hell demon vibe.

    Sixth four builds:
The American Dream: Another build poking fun at 'Merica. Inspired by Wilkinson, this build is supposed to make it seem like a fat maniac is running after you looking to eat you. Perhaps because McDonalds was closed.

The Nordic Berserker: Inspired off of the old Nordic warriors and Vikings that raged into battle with little armor, this build is meant to take the offensive by force. No defense whatsoever should be used when using this build, just take it like a man(or girl) and smash their face with an axe!

The Lycan: A werewolf build. This thing will go after you and munch your face off given the chance. Should wait for the time to strike with this build, and then ruthlessly slaughter them. Much more badass then Jacob.

Van Helsing: What, you thought there would be a werewolf in Dark Souls without the trusty Van Helsing to hunt after it? He is ready to take on the werewolf, with an arsenel at his disposal to adapt to any situation. Armor I was a bit conflicted about though, so it is a tad bit hodge-podge.

    Fifth six builds:
Pyramid Head: Inspired off of Mayhem, I made a build dedicated to one scary badass villain. Bunch of health, and the shield and flame are only to be used when someone is very much giving you a hard time. Otherwise, just the greatsword out.

The Low Leveled Tank: Enough of these elemental mid-rollers at low levels. Time for the level 50's to experience a face full of hammer and pro fat-rolling. Warning: you will get back-stabbed with this. Constantly. Pretty much every invasion really.

The Grim Reaper: More terror inducing builds for Dark Souls. Meant mainly for the running attacks, as it is fairly frightening to see someone do it to you over and over again. Claw as a backup, as it reminded me of a bone-hand, and the armor is for obvious reasons.

The Doctor: Based off of Doctor Who, this is probably one of the hardest of my builds to use. Your objective is to find some way to kill the enemy. You can't back stab them, you can parry but cannot riposte, and the whole point is that there will be a lot of running from the host, as how could it be the Doctor if he didn't run a lot? And undead Rapport because it looks like the glow from his sonic screwdriver.

'MERICA!!: This build is what would happen if America invaded Lordran. Basically run around and be as much of an aggressive prick as you can. Make sure to constantly be singing "Proud to be an American" and call everyone you lose to a communist.

Don't underestimate me: Looks are deceptive with this one. Looks like a normal little, underarmored guy that you are going to completely own.....Turns out he is a bit of a badass and will probably kill you. Put charcoal resin on the axe for extra badassery.

    Fourth seven builds:
The Horror of the Tomb: Meant purely for the Tomb of the giants. No status effects active to remain unseen, as for the fog ring. And with the ring, even if they see me, I can run out of their target lock very fast, push them over with a Dragon Slayer bow, then run away for another chance for the kill. People are reluctant to run after you when they can't see two feet ahead of them.

Berserker and Warlord: Two man team, meant to wreck enemies and help each other out. Warlord takes on the ranged attacks when Berserker goes in, and when Warlord takes the front Berserker does firesurge to help with Warlords limited range for melee attacks. Not a team to be messed with.

Vanessa and Logan: Another team. Two knights with exceptional melee skills, one specializing in offense and the other defense. Where one fails the other will succeed, all without the aid of magic.

Caesar and Abel: And a third team. Magic and faith come together to kill people is a hailstorm of buffs and high damage. Only the best of the anti-mage builds could take them on.

    Third seven builds:
The Blade Master: A typical quality build, with nothing to fight with except his blade. Didn't even put a bow on here. Meant to fight two-handed and to dominate the field with with claymore, and take away the last of someone’s health with the shotel.

Passive Aggression: Based off a play style me and my friends love to do in nearly every game. We will do everything it takes to win, except killing or harming the enemy. It does not matter what happens to us as long as we have completed our objective. Invade a world and do whatever it takes to kill the enemy - without touching the enemy.

Stun Lock, you say?: Meant to stun-lock you. A lot. Black flame at that dexterity can stun-lock you to death. Mura is notorious for stun-locking people(bad memories, Saturday?). And just incase you need even more assurance that you are going to kill them with a stun-lock, here is some Power Within. Fights will end quickly with this.

The Monster: I have gone against my whims and created something so horrid, so grotesque, I shudder at even the thought of using it. You don't even need the sword to kill people, just give them one good look at you and I'm sure they'll jump off a ledge.

Beauty in Death: To counteract the above, I made a build meant around beauty. The BSS swings gracefully, the armor and mask look perfect together, and you look like a damn badass when you shoot a bow in this armor. I love using this build, it is a variation of something I made a while ago.

Sephiroth: As if Dark Souls didn't have enough to fear, here is this guy. Based off the Final Fantasy character. Burning you alive with a magic hand as a shield while causing giant fiery pillars to erupt under you while stabbing you in the face with his signature sword seems very much like what Sephiroth would do.

Indiana Jones: Inspired by DarkSoulsMindEye, this is for invading Sen's fortress. Getting back stabs and headshots on people that are on the walk-ways, running away from people to lure them into traps, and of course his signature whip. Have fun with this.

    Second five builds:
The Boxer: Self-explanatory. The armor is purely for looks, and I don't like elemental weapons very much unless I very much can't do the stat investment.

The Prick: Based around the idea of he will slowly tear your health down with insane speed and range. Would be very annoying to fight this relentless onslaught.

Bloody Mary: Bleed, bleed, and more bleed. If they think they can get away from this fight without a bleed-up effect, they are sorely mistaken. When the bleed-up on yourself is too high, just munch a blood-red moss and be fine.

The Anti-Mage: It pained me to make it, but I did it. The bane of every mage. Using this is an assured victory again every manner of magic. It's ultimate weakness? Who knows. Most likely just patience.

Take. Your. Best. Shot.: Have fun killing this one. Massive defense, massive health, massive shield, buffs to make him stronger and a spear to poke them to death with. This is the thing everyone hopes they never meet.

    First five builds:
The Spell Sword: Based around a buffed katana, is meant to be able to run through the opponent with speed, damage, and defense. The hat is completely and absolutely necessary. I will never take it off this build, simply for looks. The second CMW is so that instead of just one cast, I can have three, because of the way the Tin Catalyst works(Half of 3 casts=1 cast. Half of 6 casts=3 casts). And the rapier is if the person is too dangerous to run at them and spam with a magic Katana, so I can safely poke them to death.

The Immovable Object: I wanted to try out a tank build, because while some builds slaughter tanks, it if very fun to win with sheer brutal power. Stone greatshield for the magic defense, and I want health over the investment towards the Havel shield. The greataxe because I love the weapon, and has a good moveset if you know how to use it. The black flame is for turtlers, WoG is for gankers, and the other buffs are so that it is even more impossible to kill me.

The Battle Mage: I love battle-mages in every game I play. They are the center of any battle field and can easily switch from offense to defense. I was a bit confused as to what to put for this build, as battle-mages are hard to make in Dark Souls. The Bellowing dragoncrest ring and the Crown of Dusk are must-haves, because I want my magic to be very powerful. I may consider having a different weapon other then the rapier, but I've been wanting to make a build that has the Moonlight Greatsword in it for a while now.

Durzo Blint, Master assassin: This is based off a book character from the "Night Angel" trilogy by Brent Weeks. If there is any suggestions for this build, there has to be only light armor, no elemental weapons except for the bow, and needs to be able to take a hit.

Lantano Garuwashi, the peasant sword master: This is another character based off the "Night Angel" trilogy. If there are any suggestions for this, he must have an Asian weapon, no helmet, no offense magic other than a buff, and must look like a knight.

I charge One burrito, three energy drinks and a potato for each build I make. It'll cost you one whole extra shoe if you want to fast roll with 53 poise.

Quite possibly the easiest to make build is the most loved. FML

Would be fun to see if anyone can get a kill with it.

I love that pyramid head so much. Wouldn't the demon great machete be more accurate though? And Iron flesh would probably be a great little thing to add in there too.

For the Grim Reaper one, how about using eiter Ciaran's or the dark set's gloves since they look like skeleton hands?

Don't know much about Doctor Who, but I'd love to give that build a try. See how clever I can really be with the environment. The Wolf ring could get switched with the Ring of FAP because of the higher stamina. I know poise is important, but that's just planning to fail.

Actually, I'd probably make the pyramid head a low level. Nothing is scarier than being unexpectedly invaded as a low level and then see something like that slowly shambling around the map.

Will probably add that and the other stuff you said to my next update, where I will go through all the builds and fix some things in each based on suggestions and new ideas.

Also, updated the OP with more builds.

Durzo Blint needs poison resin and doesnt he use a dagger to parry with? Also try Dark Silver Tracer because he is well.... An Assassin
Change havels gauntlets for gold-hemmed and the legging to hollow thief's
Fog ring instead of ring of Fap.
Remember the color dictated in the books? Malted gray wasnt it? and loose fitting clothing to break up the body shape big grin oh god how i loved those books

While I love this greatly, I do not think it is important enough to be stickied. As amazing as that would be.

Oh, and another update. Was feeling creative today.
