If you're talking about the dance, you can do it anytime. Just not sure if buff works if not equipped, meaning buff, then change weapons by putting trident in inv and not slotted. I usually don't use the buff nor have I seen others do it

The buff will work, any class should be able to two hand it to use it then just dance and do the buff.

Also, you can do the dance even if it's broken (0 durability) but you won't get buffed.
