bandit's knife and bosses and bleeding Empty bandit's knife and bosses and bleeding

    Post by Micha369 Fri May 24, 2013 9:52 am

    Hello folks,

I have just a short question!

I started a new char and wanted to go with the Bandit's knife for a while.
Asylum Demon and Capra Demon weren't any problem at all. But the dmg at the Gaping Dragon was so frustrating little! My char has already about 28 dex and is at about sl 30. I even upgraded the knife to +10 but it wasn't much better. So I finally quit my trial and sommond help.

Why is that? Doesn't have the aux. bleeding 300 no effect on that Dragon?
All other mini bosses like Black Knights or the armored Fank Boars or the Butchers in Blight town weren't of any problems! I solved them all with back stabbing!

Is there a list of enemies out there that shows whether an enemy is sensitive to bleeding?
Are Giant Skeletons sensitive to bleeding? *lol

    Thanks for your comments!

I think it stands to reason that a skeleton doesnt have any blood to lose to bleeding.

Of course, I agree. This was more a funny remark of me.
But maybe trees do could lose some body fluids, couldn't they?

Lol! Yes my comment was a little too dry - left out the "LOL"

And dont they make rubber from the fluids of a tree? A bandits knife would just bounce off then surely? You'd probably break a nail on one of those buggers bandit's knife and bosses and bleeding 3084405499

If you hit an enemy and see blood, it can bleed. Only exception to this should be invaders.
Some have higher resistances to bleeding than others though.

Very few bosses suffer from bleeding damage, and the damage of the Bandit's Knife will be outclassed quickly. If you want a light fast weapon you might want to go with the Estoc or the Falchion, both scale with Dex and are more viable in the long run against normal mobs.

because the Demon Firesage is of the same breed as the Asylum Demon or Stray Demon I tried the Bandit's knife +15 on this guy as well. But it was a mission impossible (at least for me). I had to fall back on the BSS again.

Thanks for this hint. I will try this weapon although my BSS serves me very well.
There are other bleeding weapons as well.
What I wanted to test is the Bandit's Knife because it is said to be one of the strongest Dex-weapons.
and I must say this weapon really isn't that bad. For back stabbing and parrying it does make unbelievable high damage! With the Leo ring over 1000 dmg for the reposte and over 800 for back stabbing. But I cannot bs Bosses. What was fun was the fight against the fang boar, though! The dmg was so littkle! It would have taken ages! Until I noticed that you can bs this particular animal in its butt. You cannot bs the two fang boars at the start of Dukes though.
Also incredible is the speed you can put down the big clerik Sentinels in the hall before O&S! This knife, upgraded to its max, really is amazing!

You mean Hornet Ring. Leo Ring affects counter damage on thrust attacks, not criticals. Btw, rapiers are even better for criticals. Which makes rapiers superior to daggers in nearly every way, really... The bleed on bandit's knife is nice against certain enemies, but the Golden Tracer, Katanas and the Lifehunt Scythe serve that purpose much better, imo.

What is nice at the Bandit's Knife ist that I have this from the beginning! I just started upgraging it as soon as I found the first small shards and the blacksmith. And then I tried to stay with this.

BTW: Does the Gold Tracer do even more dmg in bs and parrying/reposte than the knife?

    Why not use Great Scythe?
Huge range, bleed and loads of damage.
Criticals with it are weaker than with a Rapier, but the damage difference is little and unlike Rapier, Great Scythe is actually very usable even without using criticals.

    It has two downsides though.
Huge Stamina draim and it requires space to swing, so locations like Depths aren't ideal for it.

Still, one of the best weapons for PvE.

Don't think so, gold tracer comes into it's own in straight up fighting, insanely fast, pretty decent damage for its speed and a very quick bleed build up. If you go toe to toe(R1 fest) against a gold tracer you'll probaly lose out, the bleed will get you.

And what sentinel said on the scythe as well, great range and very good at dead angles. It's jump attack can be a great finisher.

I just tested this. Bandit's Knife does roughly 50% more damage than Gold Tracer on a backstab. But Gold Tracer isn't about backstabs, it's about r1 spam happy

Btw, you can get the Estoc right at the start of the game. It's in New Londo, but it's before the ghost parts. You just go down the elevator and pick it up.

I also just tested the backstab damage of all the rapiers compared to the knife. The only rapier actually outdamaging the knife was the regular rapier... And even then only by 4 damage, which is nothing, I was doing total damage of 934-938. This was at 14 str/25 dex, different stats might give different results because of different scaling.

So forget what I said, bandit's knife is totally a great weapon when all you want to do is bleed and backstab.
