I dont quite know how to feel about it. On one hand its nice to have something that doesnt require a stat, on the other hand it seems unbalanced the way it is.
I love my pyro for pve, im on the fence. I see both sides to the argument.

I am in the middle with this. I need more details into this before I say I agree or disagree.I do agree it needs something but how will that be implemented is what is bothering me.

Pyromancy now deals 100 damage to you per cast.
Resistance now takes off 1 damage per damage source (2 for Elemental Weapons) for every point of Resistance you have.
Ascended Pyromancy deals 50 damage to you per cast. (Or second, for Fire Surge.)

The problem is that Pyromancy was designed so non-caster builds could use efficient magic, so it can't have a stat or else it would go against the design. What needs to be done is to simply downgrade Pyromancy by lowering its overall effectiveness. This could be in the form of lowered overall damage or having more defenses against it in comparison to other forms (for example, remove GMB and create an equivalent for Fire Damage, make more Fire Resistant shields, etc)

It should scale with your SL, up to level 50, then be at the same power level its currently at. I agree in some ways that it would be nice if it scaled, but I also like the interesting design of Dark Souls in that every character that has a slot can easily use a spell (even like power within, remove the ring that gives you a slot, and the glove after cast, every single build can do this).

flash sweat is the same as gmb but for fire.

Flash Sweat only reduces 45% while GMB reduces 90%. Big difference.

yeah but it still something, specially if you have the tattered clothes. I really like the self damage, its genius and makes absolute sense.

bk shield is garbage if you go up against a good pyro build that will dead angle you, it does help against crappy pyros though.

Instead of self damage, it should be like poison.
Every time you attack, you build up your "Burn Bar" very quickly, and once it reaches max you will get "!BURNED!" and the arm holding your Pyro flame will catch ablaze, and you will slowly take a set amount of damage depending on how strong your current flame is. (Each upgrade increses it by 10-50 damage?)

Still the two share a purpose. However I do like the damage idea Slang posted as an alternative as you can't make pryo builds that spam it without risking killing yourself. If would give a good warning people about spam ideas and reduce the use till high levels. I do find it strange that the physical glove scales with int was it? That strikes me weird.

I bet you people would find a way to get around the burn thing but maybe not. they really do need to do something about it though, while I do like that you don't need to sacrifice anything it really needs to have a con. too many pros and no cons? makes no sense to me.

Con is short range and long casting times for the ones that do have good range (with the exception of Fire Whip, which is probably the most OP Pyro in the game)

Limited cast is not much a con. Hmm..how about slow damage like power within that stays if you wear the pryo glove? You can't wear it without having it harming you even if it did minor damage. That would be a con to always having it on.

lag solves that short reach thing, and with 45 or even 40 dex which most people have they're anything but slow, specially if you practice just a little and know when to use those slower ones. they really need to revamp pyro imo.
