I noticed a severe lack of literary content in these Off-Topic threads and decided that we must have more books up in this shiz! So list your favorite books and feel free to discuss.

    Mine are:
    Fat kid rules the world
    Night Angel Trilogy
    Interview with a vampire
    The vampire Lestat
Someday this pain will be useful to you
    The Fayz Series
    Blue Girl
    Cirque du freak
    The shadow club
    And the Mortal Instruments series

Have yet to read more of him. Been reading a few other books, as I don't like reading too much of the same author at one time. Gets a tad bit repetitive.

I'm a big lover of the classics.

    In no particular order...

    The Count of Monte Cristo
    The Hunchback of Notre Dame
    Oliver Twist
    Tom Sawyer
    The Great Gatsby
    The Grapes of Wrath
    Of Mice and Men
    For Whom the Bell Tolls
    To Kill a Mockingbird
    Animal Farm

    Out of more contemporary literature

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
    A Confederacy of Dunces
    Song of Solomon
    Bastard out of Carolina
    This Boys Life

However, I read far more plays than I do novels...

I'm opposite i'll get pretty much everything by that person in 1 go, if i like the first book. Better off holding on the Weeks books as only 2 out of the 4 in the series are out at the moment.

Ever read Wicked? Great play. Though I still don't think anything will please me as much as Sweeney Todd. Now that, is one great play, even though it is not really written.

Can I not just go for authors?

Matthew Reilly - all his books, Scarecrow in particular and 5 greatest warriors

Richard Morgan - Altered Carbon - what a read! trilogy is awesome.

Patrick Rothfuss - The Name of the Wind, still waiting for this fat baestaerd to finish the trilogy

Peter V Brett - The Painted Man - awesome trilogy too

David Dalgliesh - A Clash of Faiths (The Paladin Chronicles), A Dance of Cloaks - most of my faith based characters are from this book

    Kristin Cashore - Fire

George RR MArtin - Song of Ice and Fire

I'm not homphobic but The steel remains freaked me out. Some scenes got pretty graphic.
Heh at Rothfuss, you know he wrote the trilogy 13+ years ago and has basically been revising them since then, original had no Ambrose(WTF!!), Deevy or Auri.
    Brett was alright.
Dalglish any good? His books keep appearing on my kindle and once i finished with the gentleman bastards and the prince of nothing i'll be looking for new stuff.

@Gambs - dude I used to go to the book shop, buy one of those books, spend the night playing and finishing it and hten went back the next day to say I had already bought it can I please change it?! Lol!

@AnC - Yeah Rothfuss needs to shake a leg and sort it out... living off royalties I say!

David Dalgliesh is actually pretty good. The Paladin Trilogy is brilliant and the Orcs Trilogy is good too.

Steel Remains? Oh, mate, what a story! I'd been reading the Takeshi trilogy so many times I heard he had a new book coming out and it was just before my mates birthday so what do I do? Order 2 copies and give him one for his birthday. I actually said: "this guy is just amazing! You will so love this book!" SO I went off to read the book and 3 chapters in I think I dropped the book practically in tears and was like "(insert major profanity here)!!!! I so hope he hasnt started reading this!" Not only was he confused and unimpressed but told his mom and brother and they were all like: "dude are you sure you aren't trying to tell us something?" Queue major apologies! That totally freaked me out!

I would buy them all again as I think they are probably quite collectable

Oh that's hard to narrow down, I read as much as I play video games. XD
    But I'll do my best:
    The Inheritance Cycle
    Harry Potter series
    To Kill a Mockingbird
    Ender's Game
    Farenheit 451
    Of Mice and Men
    Mercy Thompson series
    The Island
    Earthsea Trilogy

    Those are just a few.

    Books:
Harry Potter series. Not much else to say, other than it made my childhood awesome.

    Manga:
Though I haven't read all of the manga, I still say Sundome. It's a very perverted manga, that makes for a lot of laughter. Every time I reread what volumes I have, I always laugh.
I highly recommend it for those who love perverted humor.

    Anne Of Green Gables
The complete Britannica of Sigmund Freud's work

I've read the book and seen the movie. Both are good.

    Forgotten Realms
    The Earthsea Quartet

These are the main series i remember from my teen years. Some can be a bit overwhelming because of the amount of books, but they are totally worth it!

Glad to see how many people on here read books. Going to try to read most of the books you guys suggested.
And Soris.......Dear lord the books you read most people at my school couldn't get past the first page. Machiavelli, Cervantes, Freud(even though I don't like him much). Ever read Anne Rice? Might like her.

And Gambs, I'll look into those adventure books. Heard about them but could never find one at my library.

Don Quixote by Cervantes are 2 surprising good easy books to read, its one of my favorites (the 1st book is better than the 2nd, but as a whole its very good).
When you read it, it doesnt feel like you are reading books published in 1605 and 1615, they actually feel "nearly" current.
