I trying to pick between the two but I've never really used bows. What I'll be doing is long range shots to whittle away at health and then mid to close shots until I can slip away when players close in.I know the short bow has a better range stat but I'm more concerned with accuracy.Since arrows tend to go to the right of the crosshair at range, which bow will be better?

Re: Composite or Short Bow?
Composite has faster shooting and stronger AR.
The only thing that short bow has over composite is that it's free-aiming is more accurate

The composite bow is better over the short bow.

Re: Composite or Short Bow?
Thanks,I'll use the short bow.Accuracy is my only concern as I will be doing a bit of the old assassin kills.Needed to know because I have a fog ring and need to keep my distance until I can get a BS ambush.LunarFog wrote:Composite has faster shooting and stronger AR.

Re: Composite or Short Bow?
If you can, use a Greatbow. Probably can't if your going the whole light-weight assassin type, but still, nothing is better than watching someone flip out over the fact that they were just launched 7 feet from a giant arrow. Also those rare occasions that you get a headshot with it and kill them with the first shot......beautiful.

Re: Composite or Short Bow?
I still vote composite. If you are ambushing, you have the time to aim well. Extra damage trumps slightly better accuracy.KrazykevS10 wrote:Thanks,I'll use the short bow.Accuracy is my only concern as I will be doing a bit of the old assassin kills.Needed to know because I have a fog ring and need to keep my distance until I can get a BS ambush.LunarFog wrote:Composite has faster shooting and stronger AR.

Have they buffed the range on the composite bow? I remember it doing next to no damage outside of lock on range when using heavy arrows. Not much better with standard.

Re: Composite or Short Bow?
Short is significantly more free aim accurate, but you can get used to the Composite. However, the Composite requires 11 STR, and perhaps you have only 8-10, just a forewarning. Plus the Composite Bow has much shorter range, but is much better for dueling (the best overall, Short is great too).
I'd vote for the Black Bow if you're sniping though, just DO NOT use it in a duel unless you want to die.

Re: Composite or Short Bow?
Composite and Short bow have identical firing speeds. Composite has more raw AR but short has better accuracy outside lock on range.
Really though you wont know which you like more without trying both.

Re: Composite or Short Bow?
The shortbow is a terrible choice. It's weaker than the longbow, which is made for long ranged shots and not really focused on power while shortbow focuses on close range and it's weak. Composite bow, composite bow all the way if you want a powerful short range bow.

Re: Composite or Short Bow?
the shortbow is not terrible, its not that much weaker than the comp bow, it has the same speed(first draw) as the comp bow, I use it all the time because its really good for those headshots and it -.5 sometimes lets me wear the perfect armor combo.

Re: Composite or Short Bow?
The composite bow is always more powerful than the short bow when upgraded so I would suggest using that.
As long as weight is not the limiting factor feel free to use the composite.
