Standard SL for PVP Empty Standard SL for PVP

Post by CephGabriel Thu May 09, 2013 5:12 am

    Hey all,

I know from how the red eye orb works that high level PVP players have a much lower chance of invading. Is there a standard level cap that people stay at to make sure they can invade others? And please tell me if there are any good spots to use the red eye orb to maximise PVP

    (sorry yeah Ima scrub)

    Hi there,

You are absolutely correct in your statement about the red eye orb, and the SL for your character really depends on how you want to use them!

For flexible invasions then of course it is better to in the mid level range (usually somewhere between 35-70), as this allows you to invade in multiple areas of the game and increases the number of people who you can invade.

If your main intention is PvP (may I assume that you are looking for 1v1 duels), then the unofficial range is generally between 100-130. Such characters tend to be optimised for this style of play. Of course, there are certain points in the game where you will still get plenty of action as an invader at these levels (such as the Kiln, Burg and Oolacile Township) but elsewhere you will not be able to invade as frequently as a lower-level character.

A good way to get 1v1 matches is to use a red sign soapstone instead of forcefully invading someone else or even better, join one of the wiki's own fightclubs which have guidelines and regulations for solid PvP action!

Well yeah my favourite part of DS has to be the PVP. So.. I guess I'll stop at 130. Because I'm silly and like looking nice I've gone all the way to 57 END so I can wear full eastern armour and two hand chaos blade which I adore (with spare dark hand) and I have ring of favour and protection. I haven't actually got to oolacile yet, just trying to kill seath, but haven't really bothered progressing the story, currently chilling in the forest, as it sees good action for me.

Hmm these fight clubs sound good..

slvl100 is where the most action is nowadays afaik, some people level up to 120 but i would never go higher than that. @125 f.e. you're no longer able to invade a lvl100 host. also 125 was the appropriate lvl in demons souls where stat scaling capped @ 50 and there was a much bigger need for high vitality due to how black phantoms worked. with a bit of efford/streamlining there's almost no build that could not be complete @100 in dark souls. humanity/lvl scaling for defense is another strong indicator that 100 was the "intended" lvl cap as there are no gains beyond that point.

This also depends on what platform you are using, on ps3 you would be absolutely fine to take your character up to lvl 130 for online play.

I'm on X360.. seems to me like 120 is my best bet then, as I can still invade 100

I'm part of the Darkstalkers covenant, so I do my invasions at SL 55. For the forest, there is no level.

SL 100 and 120 are "PvP levels", with SL 55 being an unofficial PvP level.

For PvP, you want the following levels for each area, for best results.

    Low Level PvP
    _____________________________________
Parish, Burg, and Depths: SL 15.
    Sens Fortress, Blighttown: SL 40.
Anor Londo, New Londo, Catacombs, any lordvessel related area: SL 55
    _____________________________________
    High Level PvP
    _____________________________________
    DLC: SL 100
    Burg, Kiln: SL 120
Forest PvP: SL 150 is actually the average level of non-ganker opponents.

There is also a small group of players attempting to make an official SL 200 arena in Sens Fortress, in the secret room with the giant that opens the gate. Not sure how this is turning out for them though.
