So I'm firing up the Wii again for a night of Mario Kart and Zelda, which my wife is referring to as "final fantasy".

Thing is, they are great games...but I yearrrrrrn. I crave. I, I, I'm jonesin man! I promised I wouldn't get a new ps3 and consume all of our gametime with Dark Souls until Dark Souls 2 comes out. Sure I've gotten some awesome tokens of "appreciation" for my sacrifices....but.....

I pose this question in general discussion because I'm a little unsure of how the question speaks to us. Are we simply waiting for Dark Souls 2? Should we try Monster Hunter? Does it really have anything to do with whether the game is Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, or DkS2?

I'm kinda changed forever as a gamer. Nothing says "challenge" like poppin your cherry on a souls game, or something similar I guess

I have been playing Dark Souls normally, but in general, yes, we all are waiting for Dark Souls II. I have played many Monster Hunter games, and they are actually quite different, but is a good change of pace if you want an easier, more casual game to play in the meantime. Honestly, I do think that there are differences in the games. Mainly due to so many mechanics being added or changed from Demon's Souls to Dark Souls, balancing the gameplay.

Harder!? Don't make me laugh. The game isn't really that hard.

    The co-op is fun though.

I've heard the Monster Hunters are pretty good, thanks for the rec.

But, I didn't really have that "shellshock" when I started playing Dark Souls, as I started with Demon's.

I guess the closest feeling I've had to my first invader kill was cloning a Knights of the Round in FFVII, but that was more of a farming thing.

Also, I know for a fact that if i went and bought the budgeted ps3 now instead of later, I'd undoubtedly feel that sense of, "aaaaaaaaaaahhh".

Other games just dont cut it, at least imo.

Just don't play Dark Souls for a few months then try again.

It was like I've never played the damn games. Barhrhgkg

But yeah, looking forward to the next Dark Souls game; I wiki'd everything in DS since I was a n00b and thought I would never buy it. Never played Monster Hunter either. Hmm, now that you mention it I've got a lot of games I haven't played yet in my room

Ya, I've been off Dark Souls for about 4 months now, thinking of getting Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii, it looks great.

I'm just afraid the same thing will happen with that that has happened with Zelda....in other words....ya, this is cool...but souls are cooler.

Catch my drift anyone? Its almost as if I wish I never played a souls game, ever. I'll be off work for a month taking care of my wife.....AND I DONT KNOW IF I CAN TAKE ANYMORE NON-SOULS GAMES!............... :affraid:

are you really gonna tell me that the FIRST time you played it it was easier than dks? I call bs on that, I mean for the very first time not when you already know all the moves the monsters have which of course then it is easy but even then I have had a harder time farming Rajang than ng+7 on dks which is just so easy since it gives you way more things to work with and much like monster hunter all you need to do is dodge.

Saying Monster Hunter was easy is like saying beating Dark Souls with your bare hands when you had never played a souls game is easy.

Dark Souls is not the most difficult title I've ever played.

That actually goes to Monster Hunter, the original. This game required so much maintinance from the player to do good at. It was probably the best game I've ever played, and I've always thought of picking up another monster hunter as a result.

The best thing about Monster Hunter was the desert. I have still never slain that desert dragon. It is the bane of my gamer existance.

Well, theres another night of Zelda (too many puzzles) and Mario Kart (too many blue shells). I'm feeling...withdrawn...

Hardest game? Idc really. 1,000,000 points on tetris or something like that was prolly the hardest gaming thing I ever did, idk.

O, beating contra without the "code" lol.

Fact is, the souls games have changed how I look at game innovation and/or gaming progressiveness.

Its decided, i will buy another ps3 slightly preemptively, smash through some Dark Souls (re-popping my cherry) in preperation for its "sequel" and be happy.

If I'm gonna game 4 real, its gonna be souls gaming for sure.

I tried to pick up Dragon's Dogma, but after so much Dark Souls I just couldn't play it. I'm so spoiled and picky now. I need precise and complex game mechanics like backstabs and parries with invincibility frames. Has anyone else played and has positive things to say about it? I really want to enjoy Dragon's Dogma, but I find myself doing more NG+s and cooping to pass the time until DS2 (for which I'm SO ready to be newb happy )

I am ready for another game to toss me off cliffs, throw me into disturbing situations, make me go up against another undead god, and let me throw dung pies at players.

Yes, yes I am ready for all new hardships once this game comes out!

I am ready for Super Mario Sunshine 2!

    Wait. Wrong game.

    Dark Souls 2!

I survived Demons' Souls and Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2 is supposed to be easier unfortuantely 😢, so no. I know I'll be able to beat it, but if it's because I'm being forced to play on easy mode, then forget it.

if that new guy decided to change his mind Are You Ready to be a Noob Again? 3510096238, then I'll happily buy it and get owned again.

I think they debunked that statement as a mistranslation. Namco cleared up the statement by officially acknowledging it meant "a better tutorial", and that the key elements "hard gameplay" would not be compromised.

Anyway, I feel you. Dark Souls really just seemed like Demon's Souls 2, but progressive. I'm hoping Dark Souls 2 feels the same way....otherwise I'll be in "withdrawl" my whole life.....

    ....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! :affraid:

Dark Souls felt more like a remake of Demon's Souls. Here's to hoping that Dark Souls 2 is completely different while maintaining those key elements.
