As a Fins fan I have big hopes for Dion Jordan, really hope Jeff Ireland did not screw it up again.

Dion Jordan is money. We grabbed Desmond Trufant as a CB, for 2 picks. But hey we had plenty to give up. But I think Dion Jordan is a promising pick. Although Gino not going early.... that urked me

Is Desmond Trufant related to Marcus Trufant?

G-Men grabbed Justin Pugh OT/OG which I liked. Their line is getting a bit old and they put a premium on solid technicians who can play multiple spots along the line. That versatility has been key to overcoming injury and performing optimally during the recent SB runs.

For the rest of the draft I'd like to see S and the D-line bolstered. I'd be fine if they went all D the rest of the way to be honest.

    WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    EJ M'er F'N MANUEL!!!!!

Ok ok....so this pick was a bit of a surprise but the execution was GENIUS!

First, I'm convinced the Bills were taking Manuel in the first round regardless. With the comments from Buddy Nix and the chance there's a run early tonight....I don't think they wanted to risk it. It's also interesting that EVERYONE passed on Geno, including the Jets who could have easily used one pick to upgrade on Sanchez. The draftniks seemed to think Geno was the guy but maybe GMs were seeing something different. Manuel might not have been around later.

So.....it's obvious they got "their guy" because he was the only QB selected last night which makes the move genius because:
    A. They got their guy
    B. They got a second and seventh round pick in addition to their guy
    C. By picking him at 16 instead of 8, he'll be paid a little less money

    Looking forward to tonight!

I'm not surprised that Geno slipped out of the first. His numbers were flashy but I watched him knock himself out of Heisman consideration with a few duds of a game. He has an inconsistent skill set that is not going to translate well into the pro game. Manuel is big, has nice touch and is coachable. Plus he put together some gritty wins on an FSU team that was underwhelming compared to their legacy.

I don't follow college football but I do check out a little film before the draft and pay very close attention to interviews. I gotta say Geno Smith didn't impress me overall on either. Manuel has a lot of stuff to like from an athletic perspective and I can't believe how fast he is at that size. There's a few highlights of him taking off where I'm thinking..."If I'm a corner and I gotta tackle this guy, how bad am I gonna get hurt?" More importantly though are his interviews. He's confident but not a prick and overall just seems like he has a great attitude.

Only a Bills fan would probably catch this but comparing interviews between Manuel and Coach Marrone, it was interesting to me that they gave similar answers to questions. Not cliche questions either. The interviews play out similarly.

I've been laughing a lot during this whole process because all everyone has said, is how terrible the QBs are in this draft class and how there's no sure thing. Seriously? How many first round QB (and other position) whiffs have there been? And even when they get it right (Cam Newton) you won't get anywhere without the right supporting cast.

Plain and simple, the draft is a gamble and even if Manuel doesn't turn into a HoF player I really really like the risk and they've already made big gains with the trade down. Today is a good day to be a BILLS fan!

Nassib amd Barkley have potential as QB's. I'm typically low on USC QB's buttt Barkley has a certain toughness that Leinhart and Sanchize don't have. Being unheralded may work out for him long term.

The expectation was that Buffalo was also quite high on Barkley and Nassib (naturally). I would have been fine with either pick, with a preference for Barkley.

Yeah, but you're right to be happy with Manuel. He's the proper long term choice who has more potential for greatness. The Bills need to turn over their roster anyway so they are realistically 2-3 years or so away from competing again. I really like seeing a franchise commit to a long term vision instead of dabbling in promises and win now slogans. They are being honest and as a Bills fan, even if you have to endure watching a 6-10 year, you know that they are going in the right direction. If they improve by one or two wins a year, then you're looking playoffs soon. To me it's the only way you should be expected to tolerate a losing season.

He went and got overpaid by Atlanta. He can go be a liability in run defense down there. I do like the guy and he was a big part of our success but the time to part ways before things got too ugly was now.

I've not seen much as to what the giants did in free agency, but I thought the defence was lacking pressure last year and manning needs more protection so he can cut down on his mistakes

Big packers fan here but watching the draft is one of the most boring things you can do when you could be doing anything way more fun than that but I get why you would wanna watch it, I'd rather wait and find out on espn.

I only saw the first two picks, was going to wait for the giants first but with how long it was taking for each pick ended up going to bed.

Lmao you mean the Debts right? Fell on the wrong side of the NYC fence then. Come join the empire.

Also Fry, I agree on the pressure and protection. Pressure was scheme, protection was personnel. So far in FA they've replaced their DT and added Connor to man the middle. We got plucked our fair share but tbh the people we lost all were good players with consistent injury issues (Canty, Phillips, Bradshaw, Osi).

DE Detone jones, I think its a good pick because they need to stop the damn run and they need some else to take the pressure off mathews from the double coverage. Their next pick better be a RB, or a safety.

Eagles didn't get Luke Joeckel like I had hopes but that's alright. Lane Johnson is a good pick regardless.

E, apparently you don't follow Kevin Kolb's press conferences. He's here to win a Super Bowl (actual quote)

On a serious note though, I think we could be closer to competing than many people think. Last year's debacle was very much attributable to schemes, particularly on defense that were atrocious. I think we need upgrades in LB, CB, and WR for sure but there's a lot of talent that never got to shine last year

Questions that came up many many times last season:
-What's a...."blitz?" (Dave Wannstedt, Defensive Coordinator)
-How is a 20 something year old star running back winded after two or three snaps to the point he needs to come out of the game? (Response to Head Coach's assertion that CJ Spiller needed to catch his breath when asked why he wasn't, you know...playing)
-Why are we passing 75% of the time when we have two of the best running backs in the league? (pretty much every game)
