    I'm working on a build that uses Crystal Magic weapon (Int 44 and Logan Catalyst); but I can't decide which weapon would be better. On one hand I love the Murakumo moveset, I am more proficient with it than with the Great Scythe and it has a higher AR even without the buff; but on the other hand I could 1-hand the scythe which has also has a great moveset while allowing me to use a shield while also saving me 7 units of weight, giving me more leeway on my armour.

    Suggestions?

    2h and 1h both. They both have situational uses, and that being, the 2h attacks of the Great Scythe are better for hitting multiple enemies, while the 1h r2's on the Murakumo do that.

    Going to SL 130 (this build was planned for SL 125) would allow me to 1 hand the murakumo and if I go Darkmoon instead of Forest hunter I could invade down... that does sound nice.

    Ok so here it is the build Crystal Mura/GScythe.

    Hidden Body and hush are just to try and mess up with invaders/host, if I find it doesn't work that well I can always swap for CSS or pursuers.

    Looks good, but for more practicality, I suggest either using the Plank Shield or the Small Leather Shield in place of the Dark Hand. It isn't really that good, and Strong Magic Shield makes the Plank Shield a tank. silly

    You might want to consider this armor set up: Different armor

    It has better defenses in every category and also better bleed/poison resistances.

    Also, it keeps in theme with darker color armors.

    Also, it gives you the 31 poise breakpoint.

    However, there is something to consider...

    ...I am a HUGE fan of Strong Magic Shield. ESPECIALLY on the Darkhand. Your opponent won't even know its active because the only give away is so small its almost impossible to tell its active, as opposed to other shields that give an obvious blue glow.

    BUT, you cannot have SMS active with a weapon buff active. I say who cares, but it might effect your playstyle more than you think. The only way to use SMS with a weapon buff is with resins I believe.

    I say it matters not, but this is something I wrestled with a lot in my prime of Dark SOuls play because most of my builds were mages/spellswords.
