    Equipment Dyes

Post by lloyde gildner on Tue Apr 23, 2013 9:52 pm

Now i'm sure that everybody has at least once or twice wished they could change the color of their equipment (weapons and armor.) This of course in no way would mean changing the stats of the equipment (weight power etc.)
Now if there were things such as dyes that could be farmed off of enemies on the game like most other items in darksouls/demonsouls that could alter the color of your armor. Now i understand that this could be problematic and/or difficult for developers to do as well as cause problems for players in guessing what armor their opponent is wearing. It's just a thought and would boost role play ability quite a ways i think. Feel free to comment on this as i'm actually wanting to hear from people about their opinions on the subject.

ive been thinking the same thing honestly because i agree for the armor to able to be dyed would make it a more personal character. not to mention ive seen armour that i thought would go great toether if it was colored differently. As for weapons im not sure how you would dye a weapon ya know? i mean as a weapon they pretty much should stay the same as any other weapon except for maybe the decorations like the handle or something like that. now if you could do something like auras and stuff around you weapon that would be awesome though again im not sure how they would pull it off.

Well i actually was meaning the decorations on the hilt/handle of weapons. Theirs really no realistic way to change the color of the blade except for paint. But paint requires regular maintenance and would be tedious and annoying.

that makes more sense although you could make your weapon out of different materials to change its color so made that instead?

That's actually not a bad idea. I however have no idea what the upgrade system for the next game is going to be. But for instance they could have a different color material for upgrading (titanite in darksouls.) so that it changes the color of the blade when you finish upgrading it.

Two worlds II actually had dyes for your characters armors. They would only dye the cloth portions so there shouldn't be any major issues deciding what the armor is. But it was nice if you had a cuirass that was blue and greaves that were red you could unify them if you had the cash.

I'd love to see color changes in weapons with upgrades. But thats just me.

Go all out like this company named "From."

Talking Armored Core customization! Two to three colors per part with a full RGB setup. Decals, patterns, the whole works.

Ok maybe not. personally I feel like dyes might lead to atmosphere concerns (o admit I could just not make my armor lime green). I would say more alternate looks for sets would be nice. Instead of male vs. female have a few schemes including colors that can be chosen

    skins plz.

I always support these threads. I doubt itwould ever happen, but I'd love to wear any light armor skin, any medium armor skin, or heavy armor.

Say once you aquired it and wore it, you could use the skin...even if you sold it/traded it.

This is the way it should be implemented in a DLC pack:

You walk up and talk to Solaire.
He give you the usual "how you doin, did you notice the sun was so great speech".
Then he asks.... "Say friend, do you want me to paint some illustration on your armor? Im pretty handy with a paintbrush.

cheers cheers cheers Praise the Sun Praise the Sun Praise the Sun

For anyone interested this is what the armour textures look like.

This is the Dante version of chesters, dibs if you want to color it in with polkadots, i can do a vid or pics on the pc of it.

Dyes sound good, but Skins would be abused. You'd see penis emblems, f**k you shields and prolly some other unbalanced stuff.

I don't know what you mean by that. Doyou mean mods? By skins I mean current textures/designs that currently exist in game.

For example if you were wearing the Dingy Armor, you could use any light armor skin you've found/equipped.

Same with medium and heavy armors. Not sure if the same should be applied to weapons though, that could be...well it could be cool and not cool i guess.

It would have to be controlled by the developers for PS3 and Xbox users. To keep that from happing.

I may be a chump, but I would pay (a little) for DLC skin packs or armor recolors (like they are doing for all the fighting games these days).
And I never usually buy DLC stuff because I am so cheep.
