Kil Kalameet without Gough
Is it possible? I know he stops over the center of the filed to attack, so I should be able to with a bow, but it looks like he is out of range for some reason.

It's possible.
Just very hard.
Plus, there is unique dialogue for it.

Have you done it, renegade? If so, any tips?

No particular tips to share. I know that Jester's Tears has done it too, I'm at a lack of words on how to help, other than use a greatbow, and you must use the hawk ring, otherwise, it won't hit.

Re: Kil Kalameet without Gough
Besides, I hacked to give Kalameet an increased hitbox range, it allowed me to hit him. It's entirely possible, in that way. I remember Jester saying that he did it, and the dialogue part, so I dunno if it's actually legitimately doable or not.

So is it possible without hacking the hitbox or is that a requirement?

Re: Kil Kalameet without Gough
As I said earlier, I only just managed by increasing it a bit. Hell, I heard that part about the dialogue, and saw Jester write he killed Kalameet without Gough's help. So, I don't truly know.

I could understand the silver pendant, if it blocked kalameet's fire, but I thought it only blocked abyss sorceries.

Re: Kil Kalameet without Gough
I killed him with full havel's, dragonslayer greatbow, hawk ring and crest shield. I stood in a place where his flames only hit me when he flew away (along the rockwall past the dry waterfall), and I was able to block his flames when I 2-handed the crest shield. I could only hit him with 1 arrow at a time when he flew in over the arena so it took quite a while. There are probably some other safespots and strategies to take hium down as well. No hacking required, but you need the right build to do it.

Is the dry waterfall the one by the crystal lizard and the ladder or between the ladder and the titanite slab?

Re: Kil Kalameet without Gough
I don't know yet, but the wiki says it will look like this:
After killing Kalameet and initially refused his request)
I see thou hast dusted the great black dragon Kalameet.
Wondrously played. Lord Gwyn's blessing upon thee.
I see that there is at least one legend among ye humans.
Dear me… That old bat will never fly again.

Re: Kil Kalameet without Gough
You will pose a better chance with the black bow of pharis, which a chaos bow with fire arrows does 98 damage an arrow, while a 40/40 Dragonslayer only does 59

Re: Kil Kalameet without Gough
ironically dragonslayer bow is supposed to slay dragons, too bad a chaos bow with fire arrows does better...

Re: Kil Kalameet without Gough
It's close to the valley exit, I stand with my back against the wall in the small natural 'pocket' there, if you understand what I mean. If you stand next to some sort of outcrop his breath usually only hits when he either flies in or out of the valley, so you only have to block once. I shoot him when he's stationary right before he flies into the arena, his breath only hits me when he flies back out, so I can turn around, 2-hand my shield and block most of it.morte wrote:Is the dry waterfall the one by the crystal lizard and the ladder or between the ladder and the titanite slab?
I tried this earlier today, and his resistances might be different when he's in the air. A chaos bow/fire arrow combo only did 25-50 damage while a greatbow did 200-250, depending on how close I was. Normal black bow + feather arrows did 100-150.Rynn wrote:You will pose a better chance with the black bow of pharis, which a chaos bow with fire arrows does 98 damage an arrow, while a 40/40 Dragonslayer only does 59
I also killed him by only sniping his tail, but couldn't cut it off to get the tail sword.

Re: Kil Kalameet without Gough
Kalameet might be the most enjoyable boss fight in the game. The only real dragon bossfight, and so many different ways to approach it. I'm happy that Dark Souls II seems to be full of dragons. Hopefully we'll have a bunch of dragon bossfights.
