darkroot garden PVP Empty darkroot garden PVP

Just a thought to people who summon allies against invaders in the darkroot garden might want to consider clearing the area first if you're not a member of the forest hunter covenant.

I get this 8 times out of 10, lay my sunbro sign -> get summoned -> invader(s) come -> invader(s) lead us in an ambush of forest guardians/tree people/giant mushrooms although these enemies are not overly strong they do hit pretty hard and can spoil your focus so pleeeeease guys save yourself and allies some grief and clear the area when doing PVP in the darkroot garden

I don't mean to sound like a rager but it's pretty annoying.. and it spoils my focus, almost as annoying as those who spam wrath of the gods or those who somehow end up backstabbing when they are clearly not in the position

I love the Cleric. But then again, I'm a forest hunter. Nothing feels quite so good as being faced by a bunch of gankers who think they have you to find out that you, the assassin and the sorcerer NPC have just been fully healed and right back into battle.

I also enjoy leading hosts who like to stack the odds in their favor into the Skarekrow Tree Descendants. My tree buds have won a good number of fights

Thing is, I can completely agree. Just fighting an invader, when he lures you near the bandit, and then a horrifyingly powerful backstab happens..

Plus, the knights can hit pretty hard, the cleric has annoying support spells, and the bandit is far too fast to avoid. sad

Plus, skare, I am talking about from a host perspective, they clear out the area. big grin

Lol. I knew what you meant. I can see where as a host it'd be a major problem. I host on occasion but they like me so it's no big deal.

I should also add that, if a host is fighting 1v1 I always disengage if a mob gets aggroed (or another invader appears). Often I'll back up, and if they're hurt by the mob I heal then allow them time to do the same. Basically, anyone looking for 1v1 will get it from me. Anytime I'm rushed by more than one person though it's whatever it takes mode from me. I have a lot of stories in which the trees, fungi and cats did some TCB for me. The NPCs are more rare since that's almost ganker priority number 1 in my experience but it's very satisfying to have two people chasing lonely little me and have them not see Captain Fog Ring with his dagger and insanely high critical hits. I've had hosts run when they saw the cleric healing me. All in all there are many fun ways for a lone hunter (which I usually am) to have even odds.

Best recent fight, two at the spawn point. I cast Karmic Justice. Neither one knows what to do so I run right past both of them untouched. They start chasing so I don't get into the trees. A couple WoG blasts and you'd think they'd keep some distance. Nope. Some dodging. More WoG with a touch of GS. The host, finally realizing his proximity to death starts running. Forgetting the running two handed R1 of the Great Scythe and bye bye dynamic duo. I know I didn't receive mob help directly but sometimes even the mere thought of those trees sends people in a tizzy.

I once made someone run into a tree.

It ate his face off. A time where button mashing actually works, a bit like Street Fighter.

I've had a host (more than once actually) surrounded by pretty much the entire forest. Fun fact: Their reach attack can actually hit from outside the WoG range. I bet he didn't know that until he was R1 mashing to get them off of him. Needless to say it didn't work out in the end. He got a couple but ran out of spells with at least a half dozen still surrounding him and stunlocking him.

I admit I took a cheap shot with my scythe just to show him I could. The trees did most of the work. He also let himself get separated from his phantom earlier which led to that person's demise. Life lessons....

Forest hunters: They are never alone and take out hosts with phantoms by using a varying degree of effort. Got to love them.

you know what gets my panties in a twist? GANKERS! quit complainin that there are some NPC's blocking your 3vs1 or 2vs1 advantage... boohooo.

the reason they run away to "lead you into an ambush" is because they don't like getting rammed up the buttocks the instant they spawn in.

I've done hosting and hunting (mainly hunting) and I gotta say that both sides are full of people looking to put the numbers in their favor. I can't tell you how many duels I've had interrupted by a blue coming in and thinking I can't live without their help. Both sides have validity since both sides do pretty much the same thing to each other.

My personal opinion is that you lose your right to complain about the forest at precisely ten minutes of PvP there. Because after ten minutes you should know what to expect.

^This whole thing is my opinion of the forest. It is a tough area not for light PvP.

I personally believe it is the phantoms job to help clear the forest.

Just the hunter NPCs, not the Ents.
