    Dual Katanas? Empty Dual Katanas?

    Post by Wilkinson3424 Sun Jun 23, 2013 4:46 am

So I tried out this silly little build.

    http://mmdks.com/2ugi

    And I must say...

I have not killed so consistently with that much... "swag".... Ever.

As ridiculous as this might sound, I am now a believer of the saying,

    "Offense is the best defense."

Note: I darkwraith with this in the forest, one match I literally destroyed a gank perfectly, without taking any hits, from a parry silver tracer riposte, then another silver parry riposte, both phantoms dead and then the host I just kicked off a ledge.

I would probably recommend this build, Or at least a dual katana build.*

I know what class im using in Dark souls 2.

I have been using a really similar build recently with the Chaos Blade in the right hand and the Estoc in the left hand and winning pretty consistently. I am inclined to agree with you that offense is the best defense in this game.

Haven't tried duel wielding katanas yet though, will do tomorrow.

IMO, duel Kats are kind of useless unless you have Chaos Blade off-hand or 40/40 WP off-hand, seeing as Uchi and Iaito are the same length but barely any AR difference.

I'm not attempting to come off as a smart ***, but wouldn't the viability of a build depend mostly on how it is being used?

Yes, it would, but a longer Katana that does more damage is going to be better than one that's the same length as your on-hand one except slower recovery than the on-hand and only very little extra damage (like 15 damage at most).

With CB and WP he would at least have a reason to have them other than parrying and looking cool.

    Iaitos are badass though.

Uchi on the left hand BECAUSE it is the same size.

    Looks good.

So, for instance, would the Estoc and CB be a bad combo as both are the same length and the Estoc only really can poke?

Why not Washing Pole in the main hand?

Uhh, that's not the point for Estoc and CB, they're two completely different weapons. Estoc can grab counters while CB is doing normal damage. With Iaito-Uchi, he has the same length and the same moveset, except the off-hand has slower recovery than the on-hand. He'd be better off with a different weapon.

Also, because Iaito is the best Katana.

The Reason I have the uchi in my off hand is because it is the same size, I only use it to parry, and occasionally ill do combos with it, but that is really it, its done well so far.

I half-heartedly agree with Dibs on this one. I think it would be extremely easy to prove a shield is more viable or easier to use, but I think duel-wielding can be very effective as well. Duel-wielding, in my opinion, provides a much more versatile range of attacks.

    Two weapons

    Benifits:

    - Looks cooler

    - Possibly better parrying

    - Combos

    - People will do risky and stupid things when they see someone without a shield.

    Bad things:

    - Lack of proper protection, which isn't needed unless you are casul.

Next time keep vit at 40 and dump the rest into endurance and you won't have to use the wolf ring and you can get a better looking armor setup. Havels + 76 end = hella armor. Maybe some att to make it more rounded. MOTM will make up for your health loss (maybe not all of it but enough)

heres a good combo, people get parry happy when they see the gold tracer, thus the off hand unparryable notched whip which can also be used to parry.

I must be casul because I could not dual wield just for the sake of parrying with my left weapon.Good job killing gankers with that,I'd be long dead from lag hits.I'd rather dual wield with different weapon types for versatility, such as sweep attack with left, poke attack with right.

My experience with gankers, you're not blocking that often anyways; your stamina will really quickly deplete.  You're rolling away or parrying.
