Counter Tactics

Ok so i happened to notice(from getting raped repeatedly) that using a spear seems to be a good counter for a greatsword user. So ive done some searching in these forums and Google and havent found much of anything about counter tactics. I did happen to find one guy saying u can effectively counter a legit spear user with a katana, though he never mentioned how.

So im making this thread to discuss various methods of countering weapons.

Anyone have some tips on how to counter a spear? And for that matter how to counter someone whos countering your spear?

dung pies or any kind of poison, they will freak out,specially with toxin, theyre gonna have to eat a blooming thingy and when they do that you bs them.

people who turtle with spears are generally very predictable, and can be very easily parried imo. or just fight them not locked on and run all over the place using rolling attacks since they only attack straight on.

I realize that turtling spear users are easily beaten by toxin or poison, but the people who really give me trouble are the ninja flipping spear users who roll backwards and attack. I was thinking maybe a crossbow or something? Anyways i appeciate ur guys knowlege and would like to hear some more opinions.

Also any other ways to counter any weapon is welcome.

Yup that was me. You were owning me with the rolling attacks.

A Composite Bow is far better and faster. I been using it even at lvl 111 and people get like 200 damage per hit.

the reg heavy crossbow works for me because i only have 8 dex, it does around 150 per hit.

I've found the katana rolling attack to be very good against them when you don't lock on. Also the GScythe R2 or any move that can inflict a dead angle. Or you can try getting up in thier face which sometimes provokes them into using their weapon two handed leaving them open.

As Rant mentioned above Toxic just about gets everyone. I know it definately scares the *** outta me.

Composite requires 12 dex and scales with STR. Worth the investment.

my fave weapon is the DGM but i recently started using the clubs and i love the DGH, join is every saturday night in btown, rules are limit your backstabs(no fishing either) and no healing.

my build only has points in str and faith, dex is a waste for me, i never use the weapon that need more than 8 dex.

Ill be there. Ill prob be hosting in b-town in about a 1/2 hour if anyone wants to get their arse crystal whipped +4!
