I'm pretty sure it's based on the lvl of the guy you kill and what type of invader you're. I mean, I think that Darkmoons get more souls for killing guys at high levels than Darkwraiths (probably because they don't get humanity).

i always thought it is based on the killed one´s soul level. i usually get something like 8 to 10k souls for a kill. yesterday i got like 350 (not k) for a defeated invader.
i also thought, invaders have to be in a certain level range around youself. but if so, this last one is a bit strange.

i'm pretty sure it's to do with their SL or percentageof their level up cost.
Also to the guy above, Darkwraiths have no upper limit cap only lower cap. So a SL 1 can invade a Sl 100, but not other way around
