    Int build help?

    Hey peeps, I come requesting some assistance.
    I want to get back into DS but I felt kinda like
    mixing it up, I dont normally run Int builds but
    I wanted to make use of the stuff from the DLC.

    ^ This is what I have so far, but I would like to
    see some suggestions for armor, or whatever else
    anybody thinks would be helpful. On a side note, I
    would kinda like to not rely on the family masks, so
    unless it is really necessary dont use them in build
    fixes. Other than that, everything is fair game. Thanks
    in advance, it is really appreciated.

    Edit: oh... I see that by looking through threads that
    dark magics is frowned upon. Umm, if that is the case
    I dont mind not using it out of PvE or whatever. Besides,
    I was mainly talking about the armor and shiz. So, any help
    really would be nice.

    That what I use at 120. At 100 the build for me is different and uses the MLBH not the Greatsword

    Use dark magic if it suits your build. Don't worry about it being frowned upon. It is viable and counterable and makes mages dangerous (wheres before they were fairly easy prey).

    And, check out the TCC. It may be more powerful than the Manus Catalyst (even if you are using Dark Magic).

    You ruined your build by putting stats into attunement for "spells"

    You shouldn't try using Manus catalyst unless you're going for a beefy STR/INT and are at ease midrolling all day.
    It really depends on the direction you are going with your build. Mine was supposed to be a swordspell (I dumped a lot of points into DEX), with a bit of an emphasis on casting, but I was frequently running into problems because of the fact I was going in two directions, and that quite a bit of Vinheim Spells are difficult to hit with (I don't have the DLC, but did
    get a Soul of Manus from a random). I do have a more optimized version of my build right here:

    It has a heavier focus on
    casting and damage output than my old build. If you are having issues getting stunned, you
    could probably put Wolf Ring on or just avoid getting hit altogether
    with Flip Ring. You can dump the rest of the stats in whatever makes you
    comfortable.

    Backstabs and ripostes interrupt everything except other backstabs and ripostes

    And? Just cause you midroll doesn't mean your back faces every direction at once, and you don't have a great antibackstab weapon on

    What? MLGS is an OP backstab weapon, and any Enchanted Weapon/Buffed weapon will do 700 damage at least. :|

    What I meant was it having the greatsword sweep it's also very good and stopping people from back stabbing you. It's not like midroll is a death sentance.

    I don't think I've ever really used mid-roll since my first playthrough, I just don't understand the beauty of the extra defense you can get from using it.

    Alright, some tips for dark mage builds.

    1: Manus Catalyst requires 23 strength before, under any circumstances, it will do more damage then the tin Crystalization catalyst.
    2: TCC and Manus both scale very well from 40 to 50 int, so raise int to 50.
    3: If possible, it's important to fast roll for a mage.
    4: When it comes to dark magic, you only need to have either the Crown of Dusk or bellowing Dragoncrest. Both make it possible to one shot with dark bead an pursuers.
    5: Use pursuers and Dark Orb together, incredibly dangerous combo.
    6: all dark sorcerers need to have a crystal soul spear. This is because the silver pendant deflects all dark sorceries. If an opponent uses the silver pendant, punish with soul spear.
    7: Dark Bead works best if used infrequently, to surprise opponents.
    8: Dusk Crown Ring would increase your casts from 1 pursuer to 3 pursuers, from 6 dark beads to 12, and from 6 dark orbs to 12. Consider using it.

    three builds are propositioned below, if you don't like any of them, use them as a jumping off point. If you're willing to midroll, I could make a lot more tank powered builds, but for now, this is what i could do with fast roll.

    I love mid-roll with a dead-angle weapon. Enough defense to trade hits with ease, and dead-angle weapons are amazing against BS-fishers. In fact, the zwei (2H) automatically dead-angles BS-fishers when locked on, usually on the second swing (the first swing is blocked). Also pretty nice weapon to lock off with, as it's really easy to hit people with such a wide angle swing.

    The middle one in your post is a little
    "glass cannony" for my tastes, but I think
