What is the trigger for all those red ghosts?

Hello folks,

I wander through the NG+ game and suddenly there are lots of red ghosts in the game (at the moment I find them in undead parish and undead town).
Where do they come from? What is the trigger for them?

You mean the BPs? They're a result of the Gravelord Curse.

I've only been gravelorded twice. The second time scared the hell out of me. I didn't know I was gravelorded, and I make my way from Solaire's bonfire in Anor and all of a sudden, a BP Silver Knight came charging at me.

it says I be gravelorded in the forest but i am a forest hunter and the forest is my aid! But yeah i still don't see those phantoms

oh although i never ran into any BPs i did actually find the sign once i was exstatic but it failed when i hit it (host probably d/c) but i have seen the BPs in my friends world a couple times it was always in the parish to a giant knight right by the elevator (i wasnt in his world we were on skype and he barely escaped every time)

I have been playing this game through countless NG and NG+, and I've never been gravelord cursed.
I have been summoned to a gravelord cursed world before, though. The township seems like a horrible place to be cursed in.

You can get cursed and see the GL invasion sign in NG, but you need to be NG+ or beyond to see the BPs. And getting gravelorded with BPs is awesome, it is like a completely different and much harder game. It also explains why every area has spots that feel "empty" -- there is usually a BP or two in those spots when you get cursed. So not only are you dealing with more and stronger enemies than before, you have far few places to hide or lead them away to handle one on one. There are some great videos of people in Anor Londo being chased down and killed by 6-10 BP knights all at once.

I've been gravelorded in the burg, and in the oolacile township/chasm. The latter is amazing, particularly the BP casters, and BP chained prisoners(!).
