I think that Gwyn and everyone else in the intro 'From the dark, they came' are all humanoid creatures, but not humans themselves. Gwyn's knights are obviously not humans.
I actually believe that all humans originated from the pygmy splitting the Dark soul.

And yes, I believe the people of Oolacile blinded Gough.

Okay, I think that most of Gough being blinded has been covered A LOT...sooo there's so much here to read...Firstly, Gough doesn't hate humans, and all giants do not hate humans. They are much more to the feeling that some of the Gods, perhaps, or even Artorias, has tried to convince them that humans are honorable in the most part.

Secondly, Gough was in Oolacile to investigate the Abyss...the Oolacilians most likely imprisoned him to keep him from interfering with the digs (this might have been instigated by the Primordial Serpent, aka, Toothy-Snake). When he failed to report we can assume that Artorias was dispatched, or either made his way there after seeing the fall of New Londo. I imagine from Gough's cell it was quite possible for him to feel Artorias's power, or more likely, hear the carnage caused and deduce what has happened. Keep in mind that these are DRAGONSLAYERS, they are not fools.

Thirdly, When you attack Ciaran you can tell that she had had hope for humans because of Artorias, which pretty much proves that Gough was onboard with that as well, but still had misgivings. I think humans felt the same way when the first wolf walked into our caves and someone said "HEY! Lets make them pets!" and the others are all "You know  they eat us, right?"

Lol...anyway, I think Gough was imprisoned because he was interfering with the excavation of Manus. And as far as Pharis goes, I don't think that Pharis was a hero because they blinded Gough (which made him NO LESS able) but simply because Pharis was one of those rare individuals who come along every few generations or so and simply excel, like Einstein, etc.

And lastly, what is there to indicate Giants indiscriminately hated humans?  There are only 3 Giants you regularly interact with throughout the game (the bomb-thrower on top of Sen's Fortress, the Giant Blacksmith, and Gough), and only one of them is outright hostile.  The other two are some of the most friendly and gentle characters in the game, even towards the human protagonist.  So again, what makes you think Giants hated and looked down on humans?
Hey Reaper, I know I'm late to this. But there are 4 giants, and two are hostile... (well one is hostile the other kinda is)

Gough, Giant Blacksmith, Bomb Thrower, and the Boulder Dropper...

The latter two HAVE to be hostile because they are guardians. Also, there is a fifth, the one who opens the way to Sens, and I don't think he's hostile by nature. Otherwise why have him be a gatekeeper.

I always forgot that one.... DARN IT. Actually, Smough is a giant as well right? So 6 that I know of then.

And the gatekeeper is hostile automatically. So right now, most giants actually are violent towards us.

Yes, but not ALL of them, Gough actually tries to believe that humans  are good, and the Giant Blacksmith is all too happy to help you out.

Is the Gatekeeper hostile? I didn't know if you could fight him or not, I know the bomb-thrower and the the one who drops the balls are though.

Yeah, he's up a ladder behind a hidden wall. He's very hostile.

Note how many people, particularly in the DLC comment on their beliefs about humans and their stereotypes. Gough is open to humans being alright; his dialogue, once you attack him, though, suggests that he was on the fence, though, not really altogether for them. Ciaran's dialogue is a bit more haughty.
I think the Giant Blacksmith has no problems with anyone until harm him specifically. Note that he still works for you even after destroying EVERYONE else in Anor Londo without a word of complaint-he's just like that, human or otherwise.
Note that the giants are joined with and servants of the Gods, (Fire) who are at war with the Dark, the very element that spawned humanity. Some racism seems likely.
The giants in Sen's Fortress are explicitly to test undead seekers by attacking them, so they get a ftee pass on being hostile, as does Smough considering he's also part of a test, not an assassination or equivilent of lynching.

Except that I'm saying that, as a whole, the giants DO harbor resentment/hate towards the giants, and possibly vice-versa. Gough and the Blacksmith are unusual. Expecting all giants to be like them is like expecting all humans to be like Logan, or all like Lautrec. They're unique, very important and unusual characters for their race.

I'm sure the giants hate the giants..... just to be sure you meant humans right?
