Haha got a good one yesterday! Invaded as a Darkmoon, was fighting host one on one, then another Darkmoon invaded and attacked the host, so I stopped fighting and waited. Host killed second invader, so I bow to host to signal restarting our fight, and he backstabs and kills me.

I message him saying, cheers for that. He replies with a huge rant about how I deserved it for using an OP weapon. I was using a great scythe btw.

    Laaaaaaaame.

    Also, this is wrong/misleading.

Lag doesn't necessarily work both ways equally, and intentionally creating an imbalance is indeed possible, but ultimately the signal can only move so fast and the systems have to communicate. This creates lag on both ends. Lag does indeed work both ways. Basic physics demands it.

Fluctuations in signal strength, other data taking bandwidth ect adds to the problem, but this is not necessarily something either player can control.
No, what I wrote is absolutely correct. I've worked in IT my entire life, as a developer and as a manager.

When people say 'lag' I take it to mean something slowing down the game more than expected. There is always a delay from the signal inputted to the signal receive, even if you were doing a LAN party with everyone hooked up optically.

Lag is NOT equal. Most ISPs provide vastly different download speeds as opposed to upload speeds. If anything, it's the upload speed that gets choked, has packet collisions, and needs to resend creating a choppy, laggy connection. This is especially true with people that torrent, or have a VoIP phone. There's ways to throttle both so you have a decent cnonection, but most people don't bother learning how.

It still CAN work both ways equally. I really don't care what your job is.

Its not as if every person in the world has a different internet connection/provide/package. Its not as if nobody ever goes out of their way to make sure there system is getting the upload/download speed it needs.

Yo Mark, ever observed phantom differences in ping from opposite directions of peer-to-peer? Look Skyward

P.S. Always wondered... System should choose the Host for a P2P connection by criteria of better network stats, so - if you skip tapping, how else should you have one sided lag? Do you think From could get it screwd that much?

^ In a duel lag is one sided. Lag is reduced latency. Basicly one person's internet speed is slower then the other person's speed. Therefore it is one sided by defintion. If the lag is equal on both sides, then there is no lag, because the speeds are the same.

What size of ping? You'll usually get different pings, even if you do a standard windows command line ping which fires 4 by default (forget what size, but it's small; 32 bytes I think). Size of ping would really make a big difference obviously. But I think you're talking about a tiny ping to try and determine response time? If so, that's a small hit but even so can have differences.

There's always lag, always, on both sides, but you can have a bad connection on one hand that hampers one player more than another. Just ask Tolvo.
