... you really can't go back to Fat Roll.

Instead of playing my lesser toons, thought I'd go back to my first dude on NG+, and actually get around to getting some trophies. Other toons were built for med movement/rolling, this guy was... well...

    http://mmdks.com/1la9

Yeah, that's... not good. Didn't help that for some reason I had last left him with the Capra Demon to kill prior to going into the Depths (no master key), and then for some reason had detoured into the Tomb of the Giants.

Everything nearly killed me in one hit! Really wasn't used to this overloaded fool.

Reshuffled him a little, seems to be ok, focusing on getting VIT to some form of reasonable level:

    http://mmdks.com/1lab

Anyway, aside from me rambling... has anyone else ever gone and tried to 'rescue' their complete mess of a first character? NG+ is very unforgiving (except for Darkwraiths. Lower New Londo is like a second home to me).

hahaha i went back to my first character whom id left at NG++ about to fight the four kings, since leaving the character ive grown so accustomed to having fast roll at all times, i cant stand anything above, and have the same problem, overloaded joker, ive gone through the game (not DLC) at sl1 and everything, but for some reason i just cant seem to beat them with my first toon, that said, i cant bare the thought of deleting him, he shared the joy of victory the first time round with me!

My first character was pretty bad. His stats were just too spread out. And I think he had 20 resistance. I played on him a little bit after I made better ones, just because it had a special spot as my first character.

You need endurance. Also need to get that silly protection ring off, replace with RoFAP. You can get a spare from snuggly if you lost the first one.

For some reason, i could never dodge anything with fat roll.
Now i use medroll for normal enemies, and 0 poise fastroll for slower enemies (bosses/large weapons)

I ended up having to make my first character level 200 to make him any good, stats everywhere and weapons not upgraded and of course why to much armour but once I learnt how this game works he is now a master at everything and my most powerful character happy

You would be surprised at how well the steel protection ring works on a tank but not on a build like that. As suggested by others, replace it with Fap or Wolf if you want.

Why so much Stg and Dex o_o? If those are the equipement you use normaly it doesn't give you any benefict. You lose valuable point that could go for a bit more Vit and End that would help you gear up better and survive longer.

This is my starter character, he's not supposed to have been well thought out!

Str and dex was because I started levelling dex but then found strength weapons more entertaining (yeah, I went for Smough's Hammer 1-handed). That, and I like bows. So in the end I just went for both, and looked at weapons that buffed off both (hence why I pushed stats up for the Arty Greatsword. That, and as a noob I had trouble with ghosts).

I'll probably use the Wolf Ring over Steel Protection. Don't like FAP, I swap rings around way too much to justify it.

This bloke's on NG+ anyways, so I got through the first time round, must've done something right...

I must be one of those weird players who never went Slow in the first place.

There were a couple times I accidentally lost my Medium roll and I'm like "gah! people actually do this?"

Ever since, I try to keep myself in at least Medium whenever possible, though I even prefer Fast (usually end up using Havel's to do that) but I'll take Medium if I need more Poise/Defense and/or if I'm fighting something that's slow enough that Medium won't bother me. For traversing areas and such, I usually stick with Fast on this newest character of mine.

ee-gads!I have never rolled with the fatties! I couldnt bear the thought!

I've started on fast rolling and am really finding it hard to go back to medium, although given the low poise I'm kinda thinking its time to give medium a go again.

If you're fat rolling, you might just as well not roll at all. The only time I ever even consider going above 50% encumbrance is against 4 kings, because my strategy against them is pretty much just 'get into melee, tank all hits while chopping away, and flask every couple of secs'.

I agree. I hate medium rolling to begin with. >50% = tank hits and swing away.

I absolutely cannot stand medium roll. I just feel so slow in everything I do. Fat roll is out of the question.

I did find Four Kings only doable via tanking, but given the horrendous punishment Silver Knights have been giving me (Always the spear dudes. Always), I couldn't really tank them.

Thing is, I've encountered a startling number of 1hitKO's from various enemies (Man-serpent leap attack!) recently so I'm warying of increasing that number by trying to go light. I like to have some health left when I get smacked upside the head...

How exactly are you actually getting hit by this stuff?

Doesn't matter what kind of armor you wear, you just need a good sturdy metal shield that has 100% block and 60+ stability. Hold your shield up wait for them to leap into you and then whack em when they stagger.

I can kill 10+ of those serpents before I take a single hit. Usually if I get hit, its because there's two of them at once.

The Silver Knights? Sometimes they get a lucky swing on me or I get impatient and screw up.

I actually enjoyed playing with my magic/tank/mid-roller. I didn't enjoy 1 vs 1 dueling as much. I won a lot with him 1 vs 1, but I always thought if I were playing "the best" I would have lost a lot more.

But when it comes to forest 2 vs 2, I care not. It's all the same in the dark...right guys??? :cyclops:

I'll never fat roll though....ever.

It's just lucky swings, but normally when that happens I'm still alive and can get the hell away to heal and counterattack. But sometimes when I just mess up they happen to do an attack that's brutal enough to one hit kill me. That serpent lunge thing was one of the first two dudes, hadn't realised he'd seen me, and one time a mage did this twirl combo which instantly bled me out.

Plus, spear dude's got a habit of poking me right when I'm swinging for critical damage, and due to some stairs he once managed it on my head...

As I said, it's rare, but bloody irritating when your reward for a mistake isn't to recover and back off but to stumble all the way back from the last bonfire. Maybe I'll invest in Iron Round shield for the deflection (if it'll make any difference against them).

If that was the Pricilla's Dagger "twirl combo" and not the Gold Tracer combo, then he was <3!!!

I tried and tried and TRIED to justify that $#@%ing dagger...I just couldn't do it. Watching someone bleed out with it is one of the most rewarding things in the whole game if you ask me...its just...its just....there are so many other options.

I just did a test with that dagger. It took me 12 hits to bleed out someone without a lotta bleed resistance. I can't understand this dagger.

I'm wondering if using it in the right hand alongside Gold Tracer will produce good results, like how people use the Silver Tracer. It's definitely meant to be the finishing hit that causes the bleed damage to be much higher, I believe.
