    Weapon Choice? Empty Weapon Choice?

Post by Anonymous Proxy Fri Mar 15, 2013 12:45 pm

    Stats:

    Vit: 15
    Int: 14
    End: 16
    Str: 25
    Dex: 12
    Magic: 14
    Faith: 12
    Luck: 7

    Class: Royalty

So my question is... I've already dumped a good bit into strength, as previous seen.

Would a Claymore or Bastard Sword be my best bet? I already got the DBS, but it is kind of heavy. Just curious as to what would be better to go with?

I have browsed the wiki and have been eyeing the Claymore, but eh... I am not too generally good with the Demon's Souls system.

maces are actually good in this game (no stagger animation) and also straight swords scale based on strength, and can even be made crushing which gives them s rank str scaling at +5 other good ones include the crescent axe (7.0 pounds but its rolling attacks have hyper armor) the mirdan hammer (halberd, 3.5 pounds) all of these can be made crushing to powerful effect.

Great axes and the Bramd are very good in this game. The rolling pound is faster, 2H attacks can't be interrupted so you can really combo R1 spam and both weapons attacks have same moveset, asid from R2 attacks I think.

Every mace in Demon's Souls is basically just a worse version of the Guillotine Axe. Demon's Souls suffers much more heavily from best-in-class weapons dominating other weapons than did Dark Souls.

If u r making a full str build the best weapon u should use is a crushing claymore and a crushing battle axe on the side for when they get close or when fight a kat player. A str build with crushing clay can beat a bbs build since it out ranges it.

Hm. I actually have thought about going the Demonbrandt route.

I am currently 2hing the DBS and in Boletaria 1-3. Died because I fell to a trap of the thief dude and his shuriken spam.

    -shrug-

I thank everyone for the suggestions. I have been trying to figure out crushing, and I even went to 2-1 and picked up the Crushing Battle Axe+1. It did less damage than my Crescent Falchion. =\

And yeah, I am one of those people who like to overpower things instead of efficiently attacking and waiting. Lol. As soon as I see Brostrava, I am going to shove this slab of iron into him. >=D

Didn't like Demonbrandt. I have poor character tendency, hopefully Northern Regalia will help next playthrough.

Using the DBS, and bumped to 30 strength. Right now pushing Faith to 16 so I can use Second Chance.

Then I will be heading into 1-3.

That place has whooped my *** lately.

    Don't...Use...Second...Chance...IT RUINS THE EXPERIENCE.

Bah! Just kidding. Go ahead and use it. 1-3 ain't that bad when you get used to the Enemy locations.

WELL. Since I am No-Shielding most of the game currently or -was- until I finally got my endurance high enough to Fast Roll, Wield Shield, and DBS.

Second Chance saved my *** a few times in 1-3 last night against those spear wielding Red Eyed Knights.

God, they hurt. So bad. But I beat them and went through like 32 Fresh spices. Ahem.

I'm terrible I know. woo, anyway The Penetrator is dead. I saved Biorr and the Witch from further **** of those fat ministers.

Hm... is World 5 a complete neccessity or can I ignore it? I know to have the true experience, I -should- do it. But but...I don't want to go there. I've seen ENB, Vageta, Ray, and other people's videos of it... it-it doesn't look fun!!

World 5 is necessary, yes, but your first time through, it's more of a treasure hunt than a terrible experience. People who have played the game many times generally hate world 5, but any new player will find it more of a challenge rather than a grievance.

I just completed World 5. It really was not as bad as I thought it would be. It was pretty quick, tbh. I have seen enough videos where I must have remembered the path.

5-3 though...god, my heart. I swore that fight with Astraea nearly made me shed a tear.

Also: Clever Cat's Ring + DBS = Dead Garl Vinland xD

I found World 5's boss battles to be extremely disappointing. The Lava Bow just made it too easy.

At least your build is focused, mine's just kind of all over the place.

    22 Vit
    10 Int
    26 End
    26 Str
    22 Dex
    6 Mag
    16 Fai
    7 Luck

    SL55 Temple Knight

I just kinda stick to the Meat Cleaver and Lava Bow now.

=) That would be nice build imo.

    I'm now:

    14 Int
    33 End
    30 Str
    14 Dex
    16 Faith
    7 Luck

    lol

    edit:

I just acquired Northern Regalia and I really like it. Does anyone have any knowledge of its usefulness in NG+?

Trust me, you don't need stats to use the Lava Bow. The thing is, it gives a hidden Fire bonus to your arrows that scale with MAG, and if that wasn't good enough, the base Fire damage it adds is 100, so even if you had no Magic whatsoever, you'd still get a good 150 damage out of the Lava Bow, and that's not even including the extra damage from Arrows.

Okay, so I have been wondering. I have been wanting an enchanted weapon.

    Strength is at 30
    Dexterity is at 24

Is the Knight's Sword better than the Longsword?

I could check the wiki, but it would give obvious scaling stuff. Coming from a Dark Souls player who is still confused by the Crushing and Quality...I'm just...x.x so yeah.

Knight's Sword is stronger than Longsword, yes. By enchanted weapon, do you mean putting a buff on it, or a weapon that scales with Intelligence?

Well. I have enough magick to use Light Weapon and Curse Weapon.

I leveled a Knight Sword to +4, but ehh... I don't know, really. I don't pvp, so I don't think it matters. I just was thinking of a quick dps weapon for annoying bosses.

I think if you just want to mash out damage really fast, Kilij is probably your weapon. On your build you probably want it +5 Quality. Get it to +3 normal, then use clearstones to upgrade to quality. Curse Weapon would give it the best DPS and requires minimal investment. But unless you use it in a specific semi-glitchy way, it drains an enormous amount of health from you. To use it without massive health drain you want to get the Talisman of Beasts and have insufficient stats to use it properly, then cast CW with it.

Northern Regalia never stops being good, but it will be out-classed by buffed weapons. So if you don't mind stopping to buff your weapon and carrying around a bunch of spice, it's not great. Also its main strength is lack of scaling, which allows you to just dump massive amounts of points into vitality and just have the minimal stats to wield it.

If you like the moveset, try out the Claymore. You can buy it from the dregling merchant in world 1 for 6,000 souls.

I've not played Demons Souls for ages and my memory is a bit rusty but have just started a new game and can't understand how you can get Northern Regalia on first playthrough. I thought it was a combination of Demonbrand and Soulbrand. Am I correct or is it a separate weapon you pick up?
