I want a setup that will have veteran PvP players wary and new players running for the hills. Again, this build does not have to be optimised, but it always helps. My weapon prefrences are greatswords, longswords, and axes big and small. Spears could work too, but I'm pretty sure people ar tired of seeing those online.

Once you've played for a while, you'll know every item in this game as well as most of the mechanics. You'll know exactly what it takes to make an effective build, and that will be the only thing that causes hesitation.

Anything can be either intimidating or laughable during PVP.
My current build is weak against pyromancy, so whenever I see a pyromancer, I am already wary of the threat he possess.
I, for one, am more intimidated by the weapons of my foes rather then their look. Therefor I have serveral weapons at my disposal to counter certain weaknesses, such as spears, katanas and serveral heavy weapons.
The only advice I can give you, is that your build needs a little bit of everything. If you were op against me, fire would be in your favour.

I do admit, SLB tends to make most players a bit wary. 1.8x damage is nothing to scoff at, and lightning resistance is difficult to stack. You can also toss out some GC/black flame, just don't spam it everywhere like a lunatic.

My current character now is more PvE based, but in the future I plan on tanking it for PvP, with something other than Havel or Stone set. But as you have said Brigade, I'll know what it takes in time.
