What can I do to fix some of them?

Well your SL55 is pretty easy.

Drop the DWGR for Wolf Ring.
Drop Dark Orb for Dark Bead.
Drop Dark Hand for Buckler.

Pick up some armor with better stats and your good.

I only use Dark Orb for when people run away, otherwise I wouldn't have it at all. I don't need Wolf Ring, DWGR is fine for me. If you need poise then you expect to get hit. I use Dark hand for its 80% reduction on all Dmg types.

switch chaos blade with flamberge or silverknight sword for diversity. or go with silverknight spear and leo instead of wolf. dark hand is actually a really good match with a spear with its pushback properties.

I don't like greatswords, never have. I'd use the spear but it usually ends with me kiting, which I absolutely hate.

I have never met any player who plans on getting hit, but I won't try to convince you to get any Poise.

If your using Dark Orb to catch people who are running away on low health, your doing it wrong. Use Great Soul Arrow and equip Crown of Dusk. It casts much faster and does comparable damage. I've tested this myself.

Dark Hand might have nice reduction, but it's stability is horrendous. Then again you never plan on getting hit.

I prefer Dark orb because although yes, the cast time is horrendous, a solid hit will do a good 350 damage, even without sorcery boosts. Nothing can escape.
