    My Kalameet thread...

Post by Micha369 on Mon Mar 25, 2013 7:44 am

    Hello folks,

I'm prepairing a little for my next fight: Kalameet. I'm just watching a few videos because I'm sure this fight will be hard again.

But why here there isn't any details be shown like health bar and stamina bar and the dragon status and the hit points?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeMbxKBfmKc
Is this a fake video? Or did this guy want to hide something?

    Thanks for your comments.

    Best wishes
EDIT: I needed one whole week for this guy! Wish you a nice fight!

My final equipment for the fight I won:
    Great Scythe+15 (5kg)
    Greatshield of Astorias (12kg)
    Darkwood grain ring (ninja flip-ability)
    Cloranthy Ring
no other clothings because of keeping the weight below 25%

Just turned off the HUD. It's epic he rarely wants to hide something.

    Hello folks,

I have tried Kalameet a lot and I have no Idea what I can do to have some control over him. I always die! Those youtube videos all look very cool but I think they have tried a lot too.

I almost don't feel like trying it any longer. It is so frustrating! Everything is so fast-paced!

The dragon never shows me his tail, that I also wanted to cut off, I either stand somehow beneath him and get hits or I get the breath or he picks me up with his telekinesis thing.

I never manage to dodge his hits with the head (that moves from one side to the other).
Artorias was pretty easy in comparison to him because I was able to see what move comes next.

Take your time and enjoy dying. Seriously. He does telegraph his moves but some are fairly subtle differences. There's two breath attacks that look a lot alike. You'll get it. Just keep at it.

Ok, for Kalameet, it's easier to bait his attacks rather than predicting them.

I haven't fought Kalameet in a long while so my memory is vague. But i'll try to help you with what i can remember.

For one, if you go up to him, he'll often do the horizontal swipes with his beak. Dodge into it but be careful of a second swipe in your direction. After that, you're free to hit him a couple of times.

Kalameet also has roughly 3 fire attacks. If you see him pause and jerk his head back, he'll do either one of two fire attacks. The first is a simple straight fire blast that can be dodged by going left or right. The second is a sweeping blast which he'll often start from his left. (i think?) Simply back away and charge in for a free hit if there's a chance.

The third is when Kalameet gets up on his hind legs and breaths fire in front of him in an "S" pattern. Unlock, roll up to him and attack away. You can get roughly 3 hits in before his animation ends.

Now for the tail, this is where most of the waiting and baiting comes in.
Stay in front of him but not too close. Just far enough for him to fly at you. Dodge aside just before you see his head touch you and you're safe. Once you dodge out, make sure you're behind him so he will do his tail slam. That's the most obvious chance to go for the tail. Unlock and whack away. Rinse and repeat until you got the tail.

Sorry for the wall of text. Prostration

EDIT: Oh and if you stay under him too long, he'll stomp at you. First with the front legs then with his hind legs. His attack patterns are easily telegraphed so you should be get used to it after some time.

Oh, and the infamous flying breath ROCKET OF DOOM! Just unlock, and roll away from him 3 times and you're out of the blast radius. Enjoy your dead Kalameet buffet. =)

Here's some of the easiest things to do for Kalameet:

As a dragon, he is weak to lightning. Sunlight Blade, Gold Pine Resin, and a Lightning weapon can do some major damage to him.

His moves are better countered then predicted. Wait until he attacks before you attack. Don't try to bait him to do a tail slam, he might end up hitting you with a head smash. Instead, watch what he is doing. His head attacks are hard to dodge if you time it wrong, make sure you roll INTO them, not the same same way they are going.

His tail can be cut off for a good weapon, and it also takes 3 attacks out of his move set for you to worry about if you do cut it off.

Use any of his long attacks to your advantage. Don't try attacking him when you can possibly get hit, only attack when you won't get hit.

His fire attacks leave him very vulnerable. With the exception of his flying fire attacks, you can run up to his neck and bash him while he's breathing fire.

Going under him can cause him to do some melee slams. This is the only attack that can be safely baited. Run under him then run away, if he does the slams, you'll have a chance to get a few hits in.

^Kalameet is too easy. It's possible to bait his tail slam, just don't get too close after you dodge the initial flying swoop.

Just fought him on my SL 666. Took me 18 Estus to cut off his damn tail solo. Dragonslayer Spear just didn't feel like co-operating with me that day.

Kalameet has one of the more advanced petterns

His most dangerous move for me was his headbutt, if he breaks your poise, he almost always follows up with a second one, killing you

You need to dodge towards it, all the other attacks are fairly easy to avoid.

Another dangerous move is stading fire breath, if you confuse it for telekinesis and try to go back, he will hit you dead center and almost always insta-kill

    @Dibs

Get a vertical swinging weapon for the tail like the Scythe(halberd). Any long reach vertical weapon does great on Kalameet because he's so tall.

He has a tell for the calamity move. His wings will fold back before the attack. For the standing fire attack, his wings are spread open.

    Now NG+...

Post by Micha369 on Sun Apr 07, 2013 3:40 pm

I cannot beat Kalameet in melee. There is always somthing that goes wrong! I have tried appr. 40 times!

Is it possible to fight this dragon together with the help of others?
I really wanted to know how long others spend on this dragon! It is inbelievable hard!
Especally those guys who fight him with SL1 and without a shield in NG+! They must have tried for ages!

    Thanks!

    NG+7 Kalameet, SL1, 20minutes.
On NG, less than 10 minutes.

Once Gough shoots him down, he's the new area boss (replacing Artorias). You should be able to, all forms of coop are allowed as long as the area boss is alive. No exceptions.

Kalameet is fairly easy once you got him all figured out. It may take some time, but once you kill him the first time, you almost NEVER die to him again.

    Now that damn sanctuary guardian...

Believe me I have read your suggestions!
Kalameet goes up flying, I unlock and do three jumps but I very often don't see where Kalameet is hovering somewhere above me so I often jump in the wrong direction and he always hits me with his breath from the air.
