    This idea just came out of nowhere. Probably because of my addictive playstyle in the Monster Hunter series. (I even religiously used the Scythes in MH.) What do you guys think of Boomerang weapons or a consumable item like the throwing knives?

    Instead of just hitting the opponent, the Boomerang will home back to you for re-use but with slightly low durability. I would personally love it. (I'm suggesting this from my own playstyle so please don't hate on me.)

    With my aggressive playstyle when using the Scythes, there are times when we lack the appropriate reach to hit the enemy, that's when the boomerang can give us the extra reach we may need or when someone low on health is trying to run away and it helps prevent that.

    I'm not saying it should have really high damage, more like a supplemetary weapon that deals similar damage to the black firebombs. I feel that this would add slightly more flexibility in combat.

    Then again, i'm speaking from a personal standpoint. What do you guys think?

    Except boomerangs only returned if they missed. And those are Australian, which is even further removed from a European culture than Japanese. I think consumable items generally should be useless for damage aside from inflicting status conditions.

    A Boomerang type weapon would be nice, like one that was like pursuers but could only be thrown 1 at a time and did no where near the same amount of damage

    I actually would like some consumable weapons that scaled. I mean regular throwing knives not doing damage is pointless :|

    If it doesn't do damage, at least one that could inflict bleed?
    When we're talking about scaling throwing weapons, i'm reminded of the throwing stars from MapleStory. Oh, the horrors...

    Yes, Chakrams are awesome too. Anything that can home back and does better damage than throwing knives, i'll accept.

    I'd like to see a consumable boomerang that you can hotbar, and if it misses it comes back to you for a second throw, if it hits, you can't get it back, but it stuns your opponent like you had broken their poise. Maybe it could do 50 poise damage?

    ^ Uh, that's pretty much what i said in the OP. 50 poise damage for boomerang? At least somewhere near the 20s would be enough. In rl, guys with armor won't really be staggered by boomerangs. Because it's only meant as a supplementary weapon.

    In real life, guys with armor aren't going around casting balls of darkness at eachother. happy

    Better yet, what if we can put boomerangs in the arrows/bolts slots, and there's a weapon like the pyro flame that allows us to throw it. We can get different boomerangs.

    I like this Idea. An alternative to the boomerang doing damage, would be for it to stunlock.

    i think the low poise damage would be a good idea but we dont need several different types of boomerang. just on or maybe 2 and maybe you can only throw it if you have a free hand. they could make up a new state for the boomerang to have come from.

    I know! What if it only killed bats but could stun larger creatures like snakes and stuff to open them up for a sword attack? And maybe you could collect items with it too?


    But seriously, I'm all for more effective thrown weapons and consumables. I'm an avid user of poison knives but they're only effective because of the poison and even then only if someone cares about it......which most in PvP are not. Early game PvE can actually be turned into easy mode with consumables if the player is creative but with the meta of PvP turning into lv1 players with fully upgraded equipment they're basically useless against a 1/4 decent player let alone a half decent one. My first reaction to boomerangs specifically is that they might not fit the atmosphere but then I think of the Guardian Tail whip and Gargoyle Tail Ax and go, "well, they'll make it work." So I would be cool with a boomerang. Scaling attributes on throwing weapons is genius too. I would support that fully for PvE and PvP.

    I like the idea of a boomerang, but not sure if the bommerang itself would fit the soul series.

    Maybe an expansion on the crystal ring shield?

    I like the ideas everyone has mentioned about expanding on the throwing knives.

    Actually if the boomerang looked like a smalldragon wing or something, it would prolly fit just fine.

    I just dont want to see a weapon that looks like it was made by Wham-O.

    A Consumable or something that is like an enchanted tablet that when thrown tracks the soul in the victim. Does very little damage, but staggers as if it was attacking not the being but it's soul?

    Why does it have to be a consumable? Why not a regular weapon that can be thrown and then return to you. The chakram Idea doesn't have to be like the throwing knives. I think having a weapon like that would really open up new avenues of gameplay for the souls series.

    This also is very dangerous because of the issue of range. Making ranged attacks like this has the potential to be entirely game-altering or even gamebreaking because of stunlock, the ability to attack from afar so on, especially if the ammo is infinite or so plentiful that it might as well be, unlike spells.
