FromSoft -Controlled Save Editor

The fact is that in Dark Souls 2, people are going to find a way to mod the game to make builds. FromSoftware could try to have tighter enforcement of the no hacking rules, but people would still find ways around it.

This is why I think that From should actually make their own save editor for the game, and keep in control over it. They could determine what is just "making a build" and what is "cheating" for example, they could make it where you could not just spam the divine blessing or mushroom equivalent, but still let you add equipment that you could get anyway by putting hours into the game.

We can all agree that save editors help the community grow by giving more incentive for people to stay for PVP without having to play through the entire game every time they make a new build which they intend to use exclusively for PVP. This also allows for more experimentation to find new and unique ways to play.

There's a reason that FROM can confidently put a statement like "prepare to die" on the box- because the game is completely unrelenting.

DKSII won't be any different in that respect. No easy mode, no save editor. The whole point of souls is it you beating the machine, the game. They won't put anything in to smooth your journey just to make it easier to do a small part of the game like pvp

To be fair, they could just make it like Guild Wars did; Make New Character -> PVP or PVE? -> PVE starts at Northern Undead Asylum (Equivalent), PVP starts at the Arena, can't leave, and is allowed to swap around stats however they want.

HOWEVER, the main problem here is, what about equipment? It would be lame if PVP only characters were allowed to have all the cool looking gear, but the weapons actually have different movesets in this.

I'd like to see an altar or an npc that is only available after a certain point (at least NG+) that allows respecing, without reducing your overall SL, for a cost (humanity, souls, etc.). That wouldn't break immersion and it would allow a single character to be re-purposed into different builds. You'd still have to acquire the weapons and armor legitimately and there would still be incentive to start new characters because certain starting classes would still be less than optimal for certain builds.
