    Dark Souls and other games

Post by Yarxov on Mon Feb 27, 2012 12:21 am

I have a friend who plays WoW a lot, I mean a lot. She has like 3 maxed out chars. So she was tellign me about this new sword and how much damage it did. And I was in awe. I have played Wow before, till like level 40, and understand that there is a lot of damage and health and stamina. But from playing dark souls where the Maximum health possible is 2500, her showing me a sword that had 4K dps with 180K crit was just... :affraid: Then again her character had 100's of thousands of health.
Anyways how do you talk about Dark souls to your friends? I have sucked one person in (He currently has my copy of Demons) but no other people have actually appreciated the game's awesomeness :\

I have showed three of my friends. One bought it, but for Xbox. One did not appreciated it, because I hyped it for the hard enemies/little reward, but then the patched fixed it as soon as I showed him, and he thought I lied. The other does not like it, because he sucks at it.

I don't tell them about it, I just let them walk in on me while I'm playing it, then they sit down and are all like "oh hey that game looks pretty cool." I beat a boss and make it look (relatively) easy, and then they are like, "can I try?" They spend 5 minutes in an empty room trying out the controls and the rest is all downhill from there winking

I tried to have a discussion on Dark Souls with my friend from school, and he constantly stated that "Skyrim is the best game of the year." "Wtf is Dark Souls? Sounds stupid."

I can't talk to anyone about Dark Souls because they like Skyrim

Combat just too slow? That's what it is for me. I love the roleplaying aspect but the loading screens and rugged combat is such a pain.

nah he wouldn't rage sell, he'd get really into it but he's devoted to league of legends a bit too much.. besides I'd buy it off the internet (its way cheaper) so he couldn't return it himself anyway silly

and yeah i feel for you lancelot my brother rage quit in sen's, broke a controller and never played it since. He then says skyrim is amazing and Dark souls is utter ****. Ashamed to be related to him silly

however this is coming from someone who got bored of skyrim because the combat is so... bleh and story doesn't interest me at all, not very well written.

have tried to start sky rim 4 times only managing to get as far as a full fus ro dah on one file, i just can't get into the game at all, combat is cludgy, spells are op (killing a dragon with the first flame spell you start with is sad) shouts are kinda useless and i neglect to use them, the one time i've died was to a room packed with scimitar wielding dudes cause i was bored and ran in naked, then when the game reloaded, i sneak arrowed 3 and path glitched the rest into one on one battles sparta v.s persia style. dark souls is better, i've sucked my cousin into playing via the method reaperfan described:D once i boost some equipment in skyrim i'll raze a city i think, will need storm call... and heavy armor skill...

I think it's because Dragons don't have level scaling while other enemies do. (ie, Player level +/- X, with better weapons/armor at certain levels)

Everyone I've gotten to try it out quit and called it a terribly broken game that was too impossible to learn. None of them even got to the Gargoyles. I then smiled and looked over at my NG+ file while lifting my head just so I can look down my nose at them, mortals!

But yeah, everyone I've showed it too just got way too pissed about the difficulty. One outright refused to play because he thought it would be too easy since he is a huge Dynasty Warriors fan, and he assumed that fewer enemies meant it would be too easy. Finally we did a difficulty Trade Off, I played as far as I could in his game before dying and he did the same with Dark Souls. I don't know which one it was, but I beat one of the Dynasty Warriors, he died to the Asylum Demon. I gave him another shot and he just couldn't get past the tutorial. Am I insulting Dynasty Warrior fans? No, but god damn was it funny. He's still pretty mad about it though.

We all have to start somewhere. Even if that place is in front of a screen incessantly announcing
    "YOU DIED"

I think me and my one-friend-who-plays-it got sucked in together. I mean mutually, is that even possible?
You know, like "Dark Souls seems cool, they say it's the most difficult game... should I try it?" "I don't know, I think I'll get it" "yeah me too!" <-- so we both bought it for PS3 big grin
