Rants about inefficiency Empty Rants about inefficiency

Post by WandererReece Fri Apr 26, 2013 4:35 pm

A while ago I took a perscription a pharmacy to get it filled. I gave the pharmacist the perscription and a discount card for it that I got from my doctor. She typed some stuff on her computer and said she was having trouble with the card. She said it seemed like it need a code. I told her I had no idea it needed one. She called the number on the card, and got a code to activate it. Then she was able to give me the perscription at the discounted price. The whole process of activating the card and filling the perscription took only a couple minutes.

Later I went to a diffrent pharmacy to get the same perscription, but this pharmacy was owned by the same company. My card had already expired, so my doctor gave me a new one. I gave the perscription and the new card to the pharmacist. She said it would be 15 minutes.

This surprised me. I thought it couldn't possibly take that long, so I waited by the counter. About 5 minutes later I got bored and decided to get some other stuff in the store that I needed to buy. 5 minutes later I'm at the pharmacy counter again. I wait another 5 minutes. At this point I've waited for about 15 minutes total, and I'm thinking I should've went to the pharmacy I usually go to. During this whole time the pharmacist hasn't said a word. She just kept working on her computer and quietly talking to another pharmacist.

Then the pharmacist gave me the card back and told me it won't work. She said she had to call their corporate headquaters. I told her the other pharmacy was able to use it without any problems, and I was able to get my perscription in a lot less time then 15 minutes. She said the computer wouldn't accept the card. I asked her why the card won't work. She replied that it needed a code or something.

Now I realize what the problem is and how to correct it. I had forgotten about the activation code. I told her the other pharmacy had some problems, and all they had to do was call the number on the card. She asked me if I wanted her to do that, and I told her yes. Less then a minute later she was able to enter the card into the computer and give me the perscription at the discounted price.

Basicly, something that should have taken only a couple minutes took a quater hour. Rants about inefficiency 2707236321 I'm not going to that pharmacy again.

Wankers, plain and simple. Sadly, they're not the only one. I've had bad pharmacies/pharmacists in the past (too many, actually) luckily now it seems I've found a pretty decent one.

The pharmacy I go to is pretty good, but the business about codes? Never had to do that.

Once I went to a pharmacy that's really close to the hospital I got to. Then I stopped going there because they almost messed up 2 of my perscriptions, and I only had three of them filled there. The third time they tried to tell me my insurance wouldn't cover my perscription, but I proved them wrong when I used my insurance card. lol!

@ Renegade: It was a discount card distributed by the company that made the perscription. Apparently it needs a code to be activated, and the codes are distributed by the company. Once it's activated it can be used without the code by the pharmacy. I don't know if it has to be activated just once or once by each pharmacy. I'm assuming it's just once.

The pharmacy I usually go to was smart enough to figure all of this out in just a couple minutes even though I had no idea. (Apparently my doc wasn't told this when he got them.) The other pharmacy needed about a quarter hour just to figure out it needed a code, and I had to tell them where to get it.

You go buy some milk at the store, the owner tells you to wait for 5 minutes, you wait for days, finally he gives you the bottle of milk for a special prize: 50 bucks, and yet everyone buys milk from that guy

I can recall a few times of my life where flights were delayed by 4 hours or more
