I stink at PVP. Any tips?

Everytime I end up being an invader or an invadey, I'll end up being backstabbed, getting matched up with a guy a way higher level than me, or dying in a few hits due to lack of skill. Looking at a few videos on YouTube from The Sunlight Blade, ENB, to Red Rosie made me think PVP would be a cakewalk. I was wrong, unfortunately.

In my current build, I was aiming to use buffs, such as Darkmoon blade, and other miracles, (this was my first build, so I was a bit ignorant to builds) but I stuck to Pyromancy due to my character's inability to use miracles. So what I need are a few tips, weapons to use, etc.

Try Falchion+fire resin+lots of movement speed.

Oh god there's so much people could say. It's not really a matter of using a certain weapon, despite how OP people may say they are, there is still some amount of skill with them. Ultra greatswords for example can cause serious damage and stunlock, but if you don't know how to use it right, you'll just get backstabbed or parried.

Bring poison darts and poison them at the start if you can. Adds stress in their head.

People say that but when it happens to me I just shrug it off. The damage is so negligible that its only real threat is the potential psychological edge it supposedly awards.

No, unfortunately, but I switch to the Zweihander occasionally.

A few notes about the build, GMW is a good buff for the level required so that's a positive.

Aside from that you have a lot of wasted stats all over the place, to salvage this build I would go to SL 200. You're midrolling with 38 poise and you're using 32% of your equip load which is a horrible number to be at. You're also using the wrong catalyst.

Poison just helps activate my red tear stone ring.Learn your environment and us it against invaders. Try different strategies on them. Pick a few weapons and learn them good. Falchions are great but lack a thrust so add a spear or rapier. Parry and back stab practice with a summon but do it away from hot spots like the Burg and the Forest. Join in on the fight clubs and have a ball! Above all persevere and do not be afraid to die.

That bad? I usually get worried about what I am upgrading. One second I try going for a Str/Dex build, then I worry about vitality, then I remember I'm a knight and have the fat man roll, so I switch to a Str/End build while also worrying about Dex, but then a mate tells me that Dex is a waste of time, so I have a Str/Vit/End hybrid.

Your build doesn't seam really focus on one thing. You seam to have lot of stat here and there that you don't need or are just wasted.. It wouldn't hurt to start from scratch, make a goal of a specific weapon and fighting style you wanna go for and maximize your stat toward that build. That's the route I alway's take before making a new character. Give a try to that character planner. You can also check Weapon planner to see if the weapon you gonna use will be maxed out compare to other weapon, or even multiple weapon you want to use depending on the fight.


The most important is to find your fighting style so you enjoy playing and gain experience with multiple PvP

So in case you want to try again what do you want from your builds? Desire sl, str or dex based, vit, etc?

I'm aiming on working on a Str/Fth build as Cleric, maybe. My choice may vary.

Try for the Grant. I don't know how you'll like it as it's a bit of advanced weapon and its requirements are absurd, but it fits the Strength/Faith combo perfectly.

Does it matter what roll you want and what's your desired poise?

I'm hoping for a quick roll, so I want the lightest equipment possible, but I also want good poise, if possible.

Get a shield, of course, but I'm just doing this to demonstrate to that you'll need a catalyst to buff GMW. Menu swap for it.

You may want the Wolf Ring, if you are aiming for a fast roll.
Also, you may run into some issues trying to get a fast build with strength weapons, as most tend to be heavy. I
would suggest starting out with a dex set as they tend to be very easy
to get into with fast attacks, while providing you with both good poise and a fast roll. But if
you are still interested in a strength build, try to use things like the Large/Great Club, or an ultra greatsword like the zweihander you mentioned.
Also, never put any points into the resistance stat ever, it's just a worthless stat all around.
