55 Wiki Event Ledge/Official 55 Build Doctor Thread

After the resounding success of the last two events and in anticipation of future ones we wanted to call out that we will be keeping 55 as the standard for these official events. As we said before, we are not attempting to redefine what the standard competitive meta is, rather we searched for a ledge that was most approachable and constructive in bringing together rookies and veterans. We have seen a ton of people take their first dip into PvP with these events and as a result there is a new wave of players ready to move into the more "serious" 100/120 ledge. The scaffolding 55 does enlarges the active pvp pool and is great for keeping the community and meta vibrant and innovative. It's a ledge a bet can do just fine in and have fun and be serious in and as well. It was nice to see the more experienced fighters out there giving tips, hosting and providing a welcoming climate to first timers in what can be a very daunting world to step into.

So hold onto those 55's if you liked how they played, but part of the fun is how quick it is to build and help others get to 55 it you want to scrap one or make a new one. In fact we encourage new builds for each event to keep things fresh and fun.

So it's definite then. I wanted to make a hardcore Str build for the next event but I guess I'll go soft with a Great Club. Even with that the HP and End will be low. Seeing as my elemental Dex wasn't as effective as I predicted maybe the sacrifice in HP and End won't be as bad...

Wyrm, if you go 28 Str you lose almost nothing at SL55. Start as a Bandit and that's only 14 points you need to put into scaling, against 6-10 for a 16/14 ele (and some go higher for elemental builds). I have a 60 Str build that buffs the Large Club with GMW and it stands up there with ele builds HP/End wise.

This is my sl55 great club build, using GMW for buff, hidden body to deal with pursuers (since you are midrolling), DB to punish pivot BS attempts, and a heavy crossbow for shooting mages right in their squirrelly little faces. Also, 1200 hp and 78 poise, because yeah.

But in all seriousness, I enjoyed watching Ceaseless event, I am still surprised how forum staff keep such friendly atmosphere between members, it's very rare these days.

Is my 56 ok? I had him at 55, but needed that one extra Dex point to use the Avelyn. It not, it's no big deal.

I think I will keep with my mildred build, and the idea of a fat rolling giants with the ring of steel protection, it would be weak only to magic.

However, I think 55 doesn't allow for variety and in the future I will find it difficult to get to unless the time is more based around European time unfortunately.
I think the ceaseless event was great though the area was a little difficult to fight on at points, especially the bridge.

I'm really glad to hear we are staying at 55! Had a great time at both the events so far, and looking forward to the next one.

I was going to go to the event, but my character isn't ready yet. He's just lvl 50 and doesn't have or . I almost got him out of Sen's, so he's getting there.

I think the 55 cap is good, low level means you can quite painlessly create and mess around with some builds and quickly ready them for PvP.

At level 55 buff builds are not really viable and neither are quality builds.
You cannot really use the weapons with high strength requirements and even pure dex builds are quite difficult to get with high vitality.
You cannot fast roll unless you have very little armor or poise and the low defense makes you take a lot of damage which generally means matches are shorter.
To get a tank build is difficult as you either have low vitality/endurance for high strength or vice versa but a rather weak shield so our build is not really a tank.

That's the point. Such a low cap forces you to make sacrifices, forcing you to choose what is most important for your build; Do you want armor or mobility? Weapons or sorcery? Does your tank have a giant shield or big armor? These are what Role Playing is all about.

Please read the OP. This isn't about redefining the default meta level. This is about creating an approachable ledge for newcomers to pvp while also giving vets enough (not all) options to satisfy their creative needs. It brings people together and encourages exchange of ideas.


What we ask is the community help build bridges to advanced pvp at upper levels by hosting your own events between these official events at all the different higher ledges (80/100/120) to give people who enjoyed the 55 a place to expand and build upon their knowledge. We simply can't satisfy every bend with a singular event so there will be limitations to any ledge. However, when you are planning a big forum wide event you want to attract all types and this ledge gives us that without any question.

So again, is my 56 out there, or can I keep him? I have no problem either way, I just don't want to cause any waves.

I'm gonna make a fast rolling build that buffs and it shalt be awesome.
