I'm not one of the best str weapon users here, but these are some basic tips
- Str weapons usually don't have very good movesets. There might be a few good moves, but don't expect the versatilty of a claymore or a balder side sword. However, str weapons usually have good jumping attacks, or at least they are extremely damaging. If you notice a pattern in your opponents playstyle, when he likes to roll backwards, there is your chance to punish him with a jumping attack. Try to time it at the end of his roll.
- Don't try to use str weapons in a way they were not meant to. Meaning, you have to be patient. You can't do the "running attack, roll away" dance with a str weapon like you can with a katana.
- Learn different parry & backstab methods. Str weapons deal huge amounts of damage with criticals. However, bs fishing will do you no good against more experienced players, so don't even bother. Backstab and parry when you know you can try it without getting punished
- Learn how to utilize locking on and off mid fight. Whether it is the rolling attacks of a large club, the basic attack of a demon great machete, learning to lock off and on is very important to avoid getting backstabbed.
- And most importantly, don't let the steep learning curve depress you.

While not exactly an amazing build, I've had quite a bit of luck with my Magic Miner build.

This Mugen Monkey is a bit old because I took the build to 130 to give me 40 strength.
CMW on a Pick-Axe is amazing.

hey, here is a str/int ive been having fun with.
http://mmdks.com/1j2a
the 32 str is to use the Great Axe one handed, i also swap out with great club but like the large club 1hnd r2 attacks alot. i find i require the poise to trade blows with smaller weapons. i dont mind taking a kat hit for a cmw large club r2... for this build i only use the "light" str weapons really.
great club
large club
great axe
zwei
greatsword
man serpant
lots of choices, if you want to use the heavier ones, prob just a str/end build is best, buff with resin if need be.
and hook up with rant for a splatting, he is strength master he'll learn ya good.
