Can you parry a shield attack? I've started a run with only using shields as weapons, and have yet to be parried. Has anyone tested this?

Re: Parry shields?
I didn't test it, rather I succesfully parried several Piercing Shield users, so it is possible.

Re: Parry shields?
You can parry shields. It freaked me out the first time: I saw a heavy shield bash getting parried by a small shield. It's a funny but ridiculous sight.
This will also go for the Crystal Shield bash, and if you attack with a shield in your right hand.
Never tried the strong attack of the Bonewheel though...
Pushes probably can't be parries as they are the same as a kick.
If you go up against expierienced players who parry, you'll have the advantage that probably none of them have encountered and studied the shield's moveset before. At least not regarding PVP.

Re: Parry shields?
Shield bashes can be parried. That is, the shield version of the "kick". Parried several Eagle noobs who used the shield push attacks both left landed and while they were 2 handing the shield.

Re: Parry shields?
You can parry some shield attacks, but not all of them in my experience. You can parry bashes and the attacks of pierce and spiked shields, however... you don't seem to be able to parry a two handed heavy attack from shields, nor their jumping or roll attacks.

Re: Parry shields?
You can parry regular shield attacks, no matter the way they're used. You can't parry jumping attacks, of course. However I'm not sure about kick, because it's not the usual kick. You can parry kick of Rapiers and Curved Swords. It all depends if the push does any damage, but I think it doesn't so it should be unparryable.

Re: Parry shields?
The running and heavy attacks of shields involve a shove, which breaks a players poise threshold much like a kick, and after that does damage. Because the person being attacks is kicked first, it should result in an essentially unparryable move.Sentiel wrote:You can parry regular shield attacks, no matter the way they're used. Best way to make sure is to conduct some tests anyway.

Re: Parry shields?
Later when X wants to play I can go test with him, I've no qualms about testing it. I just know the NPC's with the auto-parry gesture can't do it XD.

Re: Parry shields?
About the Kick. I haven't played Dark Souls in a week so i don't remember but.
Parrying a Kick will either make YOU loss like 75% Stamina or him Losing 50-75% Stamina. I've tried and done it before and i lost a bit, but so did the Kicker.
You can't actually Parry it. Sorta like a Failed-Parry (Doesn't remember the name >_< )
EDIT: This is the Regular kick i'm talking about. I'm pretty sure you can parry Rapier's and Curved's kicks.

Re: Parry shields?
Awesome Thank you for all the responses. Last night I scared and confused several invader with the pierce and other, by switching between them during combat. each hand has a a sanctus( the shield heal does stack) and the other is pierce and grass crest/blood.

Re: Parry shields?
So I did do some testing today, and it turns out the running attack of shields can't be parried, but that heavy attack's second blow can. I couldn't manage to parry the first part though.

Did you ever participate in the Russian Roulette fights? I got a pierce shield and someone parried me and killed me. I think it either you or Reece.

Re: Parry shields?
I remember parrying a Pierce Shield user several days ago. It was in Burg, but I wasn't taking a part in any event, so it probably wasn't me.
