On Topic: I always thought it was different per person, kind of like a birthmark in that we all have one just not in the same place. Some might have it on the back of their neck, some might have it under their left armpit, some might have it on their chin, etc.

i know its not a darksign as the icon shows, but you see the left side of the chest? that ain't normal (beyond the whole undead walking thing)

The chest scare of a hollow looks more so a Firekeeper scar than a Darksign Scar.
If you want to know, look at the eyes of other hollows. Their eyes are lot by an orange light. Even more so, the player does NOT show the darksign at all. Only hint of it being in the inventory

Well... I could always get my eye tattooed.
I was thinking on the body somewhere. Like Reaperfan said its like a birthmark, different for everyone.

I always thought it was on the left side of his neck. Y'know, cause his head's on her lap, looking to the right, and his head and neck's the only bit exposed, and it definitely isn't on his face so.... left side of the neck is where it's gotta be!

Yeah can someone confirm to me if you can use the darksign to return to the bonfire, and if you have the ring of sacrifice equiped you don't lose anything?

... The Eyes! Are you so blind to see! See the eyes, the eyes show the Darksign. The Accursed Orange Ring that represents the Dark and the Flame. The Eyes show the hollows with their sign. All glow orange, with the power of the Darksign, the thing of a Drunken Bloodlust, with no cause to fight for, nothing to hold. They are chaos.
