For me I'd have to say lagstabs. When someone teleports then backstabs, I feel very cheated. I know it isn't the other players fault but it doesn't stop me from immaturely cursing their name at the screen (I never sent one hatemail, never went that low.)

What aspect of Dark souls makes you the most frustrated?

Re: Saltiest aspect.
That definately. Anytime i invade or get invaded i'll check the player and where's they're from, if it's japan or australia or around that side of the world i try to stay as far away as possible. Also for the life of me i cannot backstab.

Stamina boost. I don't mind it too much unless if you plan on using it to your full advantage.
Ex: Yesterday I was invading the painted world and foolishly ran past the host in chameleon. As soon as I ran past he gets a backstab in he starts running. He was near impossible to catch, two grass crest shields, child's mask, I'm assuming a cloranthy ring, and then he used some grass too. It ended up with me chasing him down by the harpies and knocking him off with a dragonslayer bow.

Re: Saltiest aspect.
Anything that gets enhanced by lag.. Mostly Dead angles and BS, two things which are really just abused.. Especially when those using them try and call it 'skill', please spare me, you know what you did.
I hate it though when a laggy connection cheats me out of a coop success... I spent 20 mins holding this kid's hand through anor londo and I lag out during super smough? *** you game.

Re: Saltiest aspect.
Lag. The kind of lag that is small enough to not be teleporting. But, large enough where you are a split second behind them and can't hit them. You know, when your weapon connects on your screen, you hear the sound, you see the blood yet they don't take any damage. But somehow, their attacks suddenly have massive reach (like their BF when I'm a roll away from its reach).

Re: Saltiest aspect.
Definitely small lag. Big lagstabs are hilarious, had one where I was sucked roughly 50 feet back to this guy. Small lag, though, is highly irritating. I block an attack with a shield then back up a few steps and lower my shield then I take damage. I also, just yesterday, was fighting this dude with a gold tracer, and I had one more hit till I bled out, so I dodge his running attack. I see the hit and hear it, but my bleed bar doesn't go up. As I back up to regain some room before he rushes me again, I lose my last third of health to a phantom BLEED. I was like, WTF?!

Re: Saltiest aspect.
Constant griefers EVERYWHERE. It's just maddening when I'm almost to the Bonfire in an area and then I get invaded by some twink with a Chaos Reinforced Club +5 and hornet ring, Mother's Mask and Giant's Armor, ready to one shot me with a backstab. And then of course if they see I'm actually decent at the game and I got a +5 weapon before the game even started, they spam Black Flame. I myself am a low level PvPer, and I have a SL 3 that invades in the Burg. Before I can even tell people what weapons/armor I use, they immediately assume I'm a griefer, when in fact, I use an Scimitar +0 in my right hand, a Rapier +0 in my left hand, Pyromancy Flame +0 (unascended), and of course my ever so lovely Heater Shield +2. I don't even wear armor because the 99 humanity that I constantly have gives me way more defense than I would ever need for such a low level.

LOL. Love that "phantom damage" by the CSS. Happens to me often. It is really embarrassing to get hit by that spell.

Re: Saltiest aspect.
Definitely lag and the people who abuse it. Getting back-stabbed by a guy who walks straight up to me and without having to circle, or turn just activates the BS animation 5 feet in front of me is very annoying. More annoying: when I stand with my back to a wall or corner and they walk up to my shoulder and the game turns me 90 degrees and BS's me. That would be ok though, if it weren't for the guys who make an entire build designed to fish for lagstabs with apparently no backup plan, then taunt after they finally get one (or two if my near 400 defense and 1590 HP can survive one). It's funny though; if I just say 'eff it' knowing I can't stop it no matter what and turn around and hop backwards toward them they never hit the BS.:suspect: Well, it's not funny, but it's something...

Anyone that slaps on PW + DMB and comes sprinting with whatever weapon they have which more often than night is a fast swinger like a katana or a curved sword. I really don't know what to do in that situation other than parry, which I'm terrible at, or back off and wait for at least the blade buff to expire. The that follows up after being murdered by that makes me want to grab my Hands of God. :|

I hope you're disc reader isnt' going out. Thats what happened to me.
Couple months back, it would take a half hour or so to actually load my profile.
Before I pitched my ps3, I was stuck in the "itme description" load screen for an hour and a half and gave up.

Re: Saltiest aspect.
Frustrating aspects of the game?
1. Lagstabs, just as you said. Especially when you see the person run towards you, and you try to dodge away knowing what they're going to do, but by then it's already too late and you're dead.
2. Getting "summoning failed" 99% of the time you try.
3. Getting "failed to invade" 99% of the time you try.
4. People who leave messages right in front of levers and other objects you can interact with.
5. Lock-on randomly jumping between different enemies as you're about to attack.
6. Camera randomly spinning around while you're walking on a narrow ledge.
7. Getting killed by attacks going through walls.
8. Areas where it's so freaking dark that you can't see anything. I'm not just talking about Tomb of the Giants.
9. Areas where it's so freaking bright that it hurts your eyes to play. I'm looking at you, Lost Izalith.
10. Fatal falls that are only slightly longer than safe falls. Like dropping into the Sen's pit from the 2nd platform.

10 is the one that I most certainly hate. When did it make logical sense that 2cm more equals a fatal fall?

Re: Saltiest aspect.
Trying to protect a noob host from some psychotic overtwinked griefer. I got summoned by a sorc dude in chainmail in Blightown, nothing to suggest he'd known about any other magic places beforehand (like Dusk).
First Invader that turns up? Lightning Uchigatana. I discover this after he hides behind a wall and Chaos Firestorms the host across the whole damn swamp. I think the host actually died to a random enemy whilst I just got frazzled to death.
I've had to start outfitting myself for PVP now when I co-op. It's a far cry from the people who do weird builds that are still perfectly killable (like cosplayers). They tend to be reasonably honourable.

Re: Saltiest aspect.
I've gotten used to the lagstabs, invisible laggy spells, cheap tactics, griefers, and all that. These days only two things really bug me: 1) knowing someone is going to try to parry me, so I kick them, only for whatever reason this one time the kick refuses to trigger and instead I do a R1 like an idiot and sure enough get parried, and 2) when I get summoned in coop by a "uber pro" host who wants to show off and inevitably will either die falling off a ledge, or just before we get to the boss gate after spending 20 minutes clearing the level because they wanted to double back and get pivot BS'd by some invader. The moment you stop respecting the game, it will punish you -- and odds are I'll be right there to facepalm over it.

i actually found out how to fix that one! you have to turn off the camera's auto wall recovery (or whatever it's called) in the options menu.
dead angle wrath of god in the worst part of dark souls followed by flinging yourself off a ledge because the mob you had lock-on with decided to suicide thus pulling you with them to your death.
oh and *** you spell spammers and bs fishers! you know what you're doing! you laggy bastards!

Re: Saltiest aspect.
I don't PvP a lot, so I'll give my PvE input:
EVENT LAG. My God. Every freaking time I go to get my Rusty Iron Ring, wouldn't you know it, half of all of my attempts to actually HIT the Black Knights in the Asylum don't actually work.
I spend 30+ seconds trying to make the Knight do the Shield Bash + Thrust combo so I can run in and hit him, AND.....
I push R1 and......nothing happens.
Crap.
I back up and I'm going "OMG please don't kill me please don't kill me please don't kill me" and then, 5-10 seconds later, THEN my character attempts an R1. 90% of the time, I get hit because I either thunked his shield and got blocked, or, my character started the attack while the Knight was dashing forward to Thrust. And I'm praying I've enough room to hurry up and back up before he follows it up with another attack.
By Far, THE most Annoying thing in the game and unlike the PvP Griefers, this crap is unavoidable.
