Okay I have this annoying friend who keeps bringing up the fact that I play dark souls, and then trying to lecture me about how skyrim is better. I need some good disses that I can use on him to shut him up. Remember this is not a rational person. This is a mindless skyrim fanboy who sees no reason.

He's entitled to like what he likes, the same way you are. You'll just have the understanding of what he's missing out on on top of that. I've got a friend who sort of does the same thing. Not quite, but sorta. When I was first getting into DkS he stopped by and asked me what I was playing, and I said "Dark Souls man! It beats the hell out of Skyrim." He was so offended by my saying that anything was better than Skyrim that he's never given DkS a chance. Despite seeing me logged onto it for pretty much a year on the PSN. I stopped trying to convince him after awhile though. It's his loss really, and doesn't alter my enjoyment of it. Of either game really. I still like Skyrim, and all said and done they're pretty radically different games anyway. The only similarity is that they're high fantasy rpgs. The gameplay is nothing alike.

I don't like comparing them because they are different games, but, head-to-head, Dark Souls does win out. It's the better game.
As for ways to tell off your friend, just sit with him for a session of Skyrim and wait for a flying mammoth or for an important NPC to glitch out on a quest and pounce.

or phantom damage, or a lag stab, or a gank. They both have their flaws. It's all opinion. I like Dark Souls better too, but that's my opinion

Whoa Plastic, big time fallacy there.
He is entitled to his own opinion in America, or other places with freedom of speech guaranteed by law. Other places, like maybe the back jungle of Papua New Guinea, his only entitlements may only be to death and great pain.
Have you thought about taking him on a vacation?

That's online. Skyrim doesn't even have online, but, like I said, they're different so that means very little.

Tell him skyrim is a sandbox, and Dark souls is an RPG, that the games are fundamentally different and can't be compared.

Well then bottomless boxes, dragon head glitches, or spell swaps. Yes,
the point is the comparison doesn't make much sense anyway.

I have a co-worker like this. He wont shut up about skyrim and mass effect. Ever. Not to be rude but he is the, lives at home even though he is in his late 20s not going to school just works, doesn't have a girlfriend, or any REAL friends, type. So i can't rationalize with him to even try it. He also argues xbox over ps3 all the time to. Without me even having to chime in. I wish i'd never told him i play video games at all.
Point being. Some people are just narrow minded idiots and thats all there is to it.
(I'm not, arguing for xbox/ps3, or skyrim/dks here in any way. It goes both ways with the idiots who hold to solid of a mindset)
Enjoy what you enjoy. Let others do as they please.

Tell your friend what Skyrim is like on PS3. So him some videos too.
Also, I like to amuse myself by watching videos of glitches in Bethesda's games. My favorite glitch in Skyrim is an animal randomly falls out of the sky and dies. It must've spawned in the sky somewhere because it didn't appear in the video until it fell. It's raining animals!

I kinda want to experience these Skyrim glitches everyone talks about. I have it on PS3 and the worst thing I've ever had was one or two load screen freezes.

^ I'm avoiding Skyrim. I heard it has issueson PS3, so I looked it up on Youtube. The game plays like a slide show, and the only guarenteed way to "fix" it is to start over again. If I do decide to get it, then I'll get it on PC, but I don't think I want to support Bethesda after what they did. I heard only one of the three DLCs are being released on the PS3.

They actually just released all the DLCs for PS3 (I think it's all of them). Three anyway.
I've had a couple of random and very brief framerate lulls but nothing that even affected the gameplay or any worse than almost any other game honestly. And that's also only since I got a slim PS3. My old phat one had no issues running the game ever (that one never had B. Town framerate problems either). I've heard about raining animals, game freezes from going underwater and many other crazy things. I've seen zero of these glitches. Now I haven't finished the game yet and am not even really close to having done "it all" in the game but as far as the "near unplayable" label I've heard it called, I suppose some PS3 users (at a higher rate than other consoles) have major issues but for me it's been a fun and smooth romp through the wintry lands of Skyrim so far.
But if you have a PC that can run it it sounds like that's the safest way.

I rented Skyrim for a few days a few months ago. It was just the same endless, shallow repetitive and uninvolving. I had neither like nor dislike towards it; I was just blank. I returned it pretty quickly.
All you can offer is that Dark Souls is much deeper, darker and involving, both in gameplay and in story. Saying that Dark Souls is better (or that Skyrim is worse) in a hostile way is bound to backfire.

He can enjoy it. I think Skyrim is just lazily churned out and doesn't at all deserve the scores it got. It's a shame that game reviewer don't take off points when it's obvious that a game maker just throws a game out that bugged up the wall.

Tell him he can't handle Dark Souls.
They should not be compared as games as a whole.

If Aliens: Colonial Marines got it's scores from the "reviewers", I no longer trust any review any of them got from it.....

Skyrim definitely has it's fair share of random bugs, and on the PC, you can make more. If you install a mod wrong, or the mod has a file conflict, so many different things can go wrong.

Apples and oranges.
I like skyrim for entirely different reasons, though its not as good as morrowind (umbra is a BAMF.)

I too enjoy Morrowind. It really makes you use your brain, as there's a big world, and no marker to guide you, only dialogue. The quests were a bit more inventive, and the story was better to me. Umbra, as hard as it was to get for me, was worth the trouble. It was kind of ridiculous how powerful it was.

You may think Dark Souls has flaws, but you don't find a falmer hunting deer and saying "hello" to you in a normal voice in Dark Souls
